Beautifully styled by the owner, this gorgeous and charming semi-detached cottage was originally the stables to St Mary's Church and the rectory. Peacefully situated in enchanting private gardens and only a ten minute walk to the beach. Beautifully styled by the owner, this gorgeous and charming semi-detached cottage was originally the stables to St Mary's Church and the rectory. Peacefully situated in enchanting private gardens and only a ten minute walk to the beach. With all the bedrooms on the ground floor, this fabulous cottage is practical too. Peacefully situated away from the roads, but a short walk to the beach and the renowned Ship hotel/pub/restaurant. Grooms Cottage also has lovely fully-enclosed cottage gardens, so perfect for dogs and children and there is garden furniture to relax and enjoy long sunny days and al fresco dining. Grooms Cottage is a delight and has been sensitively refurbished over time to now offer ‘upside down' living accommodation. Upstairs you'll discover the spacious open-plan living area with an open fire and a very well-equipped kitchen with range oven. The owners of Grooms Cottage are supporters of the RSPB and donate a percentage of each rental to the charity, so make sure you visit the RSPB reserves at nearby Titchwell or Snettisham, where you can explore the reserve and appreciate the fabulous bird and wildlife that frequent the area. With Brancaster Staithe in walking distance you can walk the coast path to buy fresh fish from the harbour where the boats land their catch. If you wish to book two adjacent properties with private access from each garden, then consider booking Betty's Cottage too, which also has a fully-enclosed cottage garden, so perfect for dogs and children. The cottages sit just 20ft away from one another, so plenty of privacy yet close enough to enjoy quality time together. Additional Information Two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). Access Note: The open plan living area is on the first floor.
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. Brancaster Beach was a 10/15 min walk away. Other towns and villages a short drive away. The nearby Jolly Sailor pub did great food and had a sea chanty choir on Monday evening. Thank you all
Stunning garden. House was lovely as a family cottage. We had five adults staying in the house and while it had everything needed it was a little smaller than expected. Still had a lovely break
A pretty property, close to the beach. Lovely enclosed private garden. The TV had no internet connectivity. The pull out bed was adequate for one adult not two as intended.
Beautiful house in a wonderful location. We loved being able to walk to the beach and then back and enjoy sunny afternoons in the garden!
We had a lovely stay. The property was beautiful with great quality furniture and furnishings. The kitchen was really well equipped to enable guests to cook at home. ( The nearest shop/ supermarket is a drive away so come prepared with food and drink if you arrive late although there is a fab pub and restaurant just a stones throw away! ) The garden was quite simply spectacular. The property is quite close to the beach and it’s a lovely walk across the marshes to get there. Communication with the hosts and their representatives was good. This is a great base for exploring the stunning North Norfolk coast. This is a lovely property and that we had a super stay!
For days out, head to Burnham Market with its boutiques, galleries and eateries or go slightly further afield and pay a visit to Wells-next-the-Sea where you can shop in bustling Staithe Street, head to the beach or crab from the quay. Holkham Hall with its stunning beach, Houghton Hall and HM The King's Sandringham private residence are not far away too.
Brancaster seals bask on the creek edges and children can safely paddle in the tidal lagoons. The tide goes out a long way revealing the shipwreck of the SS Vina (beware of strong tides and do not venture out!) The sand is perfect for sandcastles and picnics. Kite surfers provide exciting entertainment on windy days.
Parking is a few yards from the beach and anyone who walks that little bit further will be rewarded with their own private stretch of sand!
The Ship public house has recently been reopened under Chris Couborough The Flying Kiwi Chef to great reviews.
Traditional ice-cream and lollies can be had from the booth on the beach! Wildlife along the coast is abundant and accessible, Marsh Harriers wheel overhead along with Avocets, Oyster Catchers and Terns.
A trip would not be complete without tasting the famous mussels, in season when there is an 'R' in the month.
Make sure you visit the RSPB reserves at nearby Titchwell or Snettisham, where you can explore the reserve and appreciate the fabulous bird and wildlife that frequent the area.
