Lochgoilhead is within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful areas in Argyll and in Scotland as a whole. (Wikipedia)
Located at the head of Loch Goil - a tidal sea loch, backed by mountains and forests. We like to think this place is pretty special. Accessed via a 6-mile single track road (with passing places) from the viewpoint of the Rest and be Thankful. A wonderful way to arrive.
The village has a Post Office and small grocery store, a Costcutter mini-market (1 mile away), Bowling Green, Tennis Court, Village Hall and a Dr’s Surgery.
Take to the hills on a number of marked walking trails. Hire a boat for fishing, nature watching and enjoying the views. The local leisure centre has a 25m indoor swimming pool, indoor play area and a range of activities. 9-hole golf course. All open to the public on a pay as you go basis.
Eat out: The View Restaurant at the Drimsynie Estate. They also offer a takeaway option. The Goil Inn in is the village pub & restaurant. On the road to Carrick Castle is the Boat Shed Cafe.
The nearby holiday village has regular weekend entertainment plus extra during the holidays.

A car is best to enjoy this area but it is possible to come by public transport. Buses from Helensburgh and Dunoon stop in the village. There are 2 local taxis. Bicycle hire is available from the Drimsynie Estate.
