Hugues’ and Andrew’s place is a true gem! Situated in a calm and beautiful landscape, yet close enough to shopping and restaurant facilities, it offers everything you need and more if you’re looking to find relaxation. The apartment is beautifully furnished and well equipped, has a private terrace with great views, and gives you access to a shared pool and other common spaces. The infinity pool is amazing and a place to meet other guests. Hugues and Andrew are wonderful hosts. They have great recommendations and even took us to a concert at an amazing venue in an old church (Abbazia di Sant'Apollinare).

Wir bekamen einen herzlichen Empfang und hatten zwei sehr erholsame Wochen, die wir in der Unterkunft und auf dem wunderschönen Gelände verbringen durften. Unser Highlight war der große infinity Pool und die Besuche der nahegelegenen Städte Perugia und Assisi. Auch den Ausflug mit Hugues und Andrew in die Bar des nächsten Dorfs haben wir sehr genossen. Bedenken sollte man nur, dass man auf jeden Fall ein Auto braucht. Vielen Dank für die Auszeit und die schönen Erinnerungen!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the (misleadingly named!) pigsties in May 2022. The aim of our holiday was to disconnect and recharge. Our stay at Casale Monticchio provided just that. The accommodation was lovely - very clean with plenty of amenities (dishwasher, utensils, etc.). The open plan living space was perfect, and stayed cool during the day and night. We particularly appreciated the lack of a TV, opting instead to use their extensive CD collection (with in-built sound system). The private patio is a fantastic place to eat breakfast/dinner and enjoy the beautiful views and sounds of the Umbrian countryside. The pool area was pristine and overlooked the valley. The infinity pool was the perfect way to cool down after a long day of sunbathing! Hughes and Andrew were attentive hosts - they provided us with many great recommendations (local restaurants, wine tours, hikes, etc.) and ensured we had everything we needed. We were kindly invited to several local cultural events, including a fantastic LGBT+ concert in Foligno. On the penultimate evening Hughes and Andrew hosted a wonderful dinner for all the guests staying at Casale Monticchio. The local area was quiet and remote; a car is essential. We used it to visit the ‘must-see’ town Assisi and the quaint hilltop village, Panicale. That said, we were able to go on a hike and walk to a local village for a wine tour (Monte Vibiano). Overall, we would recommend a stay with Hughes and Andrew at their beautiful home. We look forward to visiting again someday. Z & J

I really can't say enough good things about our stay at the Pigsties. Hugues was the ultimate host answering all questions promptly and thoroughly...and the property is amazing! It is so comfortable and welcoming with all the amenities that you could want...and really beautiful views too. The Pigsties structure itself is a great piece of architecture designed by Hugues's partner Andrew. The outdoor living spaces of the property are so well thought out and just cry out "come sit and relax and enjoy Umbria!" Both days that we were there I took really enjoyable walks along easy-to-follow trails. We will be back. Thank you Hugues and Andrew!
