We had a really lovely stay for a wedding anniversary weekend in lovely quiet surroundings and an easy drive to the Lake District.

Our short stay at the Blencathra Box was just what we needed. The box itself is as pictured, quaint and located in a peaceful location. There is Carlisles No.2 restaurant located less than a 5 minute walk away to which was superb. The hosts were great, nothing was to much trouble and friendly. I highly recommend this location for short break away.

We have just returned from 3 nights here and it was lovely! Everything was very easy to get to via car. We ate at the Plough Inn Wreay and visited Windermere, Ambleside and Derwent water. Just a warning to others, there is no oven. The microwave is convection and there is a hob but we brought pizzas to cook so that was a no go! However there was everything you need, maybe a bit more milk and sugars wouldn’t go a miss and curtains at the main door as it gets extremely light in the mornings! However we would come back when it is less rainy!! ☔️🌧️ Thankyou kindly for having us !
