A Stay at Oak Tree Cottage in a remote village on the Stoke Rochford estate, for a leisurely retreat. Just off the A1, A short stroll to Stoke Rochford Hall, 20 minutes drive to Stamford for Shopping and Lunch, a stones throw to the Golf Club. Cottage includes - Wood burner - Towels, linens and waffle robes. - Wifi and Netflix. - Wet room bathroom, freestanding Bath tub. - Cooking, cleaning and living essentials. - Private off-road parking. - Garden. - Pet Friendly - Hosts 5 guests. Your stay includes use of the whole cottage. The cottage has been recently renovated and has had some origional features replaced or renewed, for instance the Kitchen is new but has Quaker style features and stone floors, all cooking a cleaning equipment is provided along with, fridge, oven, dishwasher, toaster and Kettle. The Kitchen opens up to a generous breakfast dining room for all the guests and a set table for special occasions with a garden view from the french doors as you dine. The Main bedroom is calm and peaceful, and has a double bed, a wardrobe, towels and robes. Both bedrooms feature traditional fireplaces. The second room has two single beds, also has a feature fireplace, robes and towels. We also have an additional day bed for an extra guest, great for a family. The cottage hosts 5 guests on request. I do have a lovely wood burner in the Living room with very straight forward instructions, wood and Kindling too. The Cottage has old and new furnishings to compliment the space creating a cosy homely feeling. But nothing beats fresh clean sheets and towels with waffle robes for everyone. Our bathroom features a wet room shower and a free standing Bath tub, a little luxury. Downstairs we have an additional powder room and laundry with washer and dryer. The cottage has its own driveway for off road parking and garden surrounding. Great for kids and pets. The cottage is quite remote and removed from the village, the local pub is a 20 minute walk and co-op 10 minute drive. The Wi-Fi is excellent! I offer Milk, Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, green tea, peppermint tea, snacks, Fruit, granola and a little gin and tonic for your arrival.

The cottage was deceptively spacious, warm and very light. The location is in a very pretty village just minutes from the A1, yet very quiet and peaceful with birds (notably lots of woodpeckers, tits and the sound of owls at night). We had two dogs with us and the large secure garden was perfect. The beds, linen and pillows were particularly comfortable. As a previous guest noted, the cottage is quite sparsely furnished in places - e.g mirrors and more bedside lamps in the bedrooms would be good, but this did not detract from an overall enjoyable stay in a well-located and comfortable cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet location
A beautiful little gem, perfect to stay with our anxious dog. The cottage has a wrap around garden with parking that is fully fenced in, so makes unloading and reloading the car easy with a dog! The surrounding area was just simply magical, with easy access to the Rochford Estate and its grounds. A very quiet and friendly village. Only saw a handful of people whilst we were there! Beautifully decorated throughout and had sufficient towels, utensils, cleaning products etc. The lounge was a little chilly at times, so moved the portable heater into there to keep it warm. A little manual to explain how to change the thermostat/washing machine etc would have been useful, but the host was extremely responsive with any questions! Overall we absolutely loved our stay and will be coming back as we have family near by. Thank you!!

The Village of Stoke Rochford is incredibly charming, a chocolate village in the middle of nowhere and incredibly picturesque no matter the season.
A walking distance from Stoke Rochford hall and lake side. So Take your Camera and bring your walking shoes.
Please be careful when driving through the village, lots of blind spots and elderly neighbours.
Parking is private for you at the cottage with ample space for two vehicles.
You get direct access off the A1 to the village with views of the church and the valleys. Buses are not so frequent, not at all from the village.
Grantham has a main train route to and from London and the train station will have plenty of taxis waiting, so if your staying for a wedding locally this is a no brainer.

A farm shop is open on Saturday and Sunday within walking distance from the cottage through the top of the village to the t-junction turn left it’s almost immediately on the right. Open for a little cake and coffee or to pick up a loaf, bacon and bread 😉
The Local Co-op is a drive away in Colsteworth so I recommend you come prepared. This is a rural getaway. A chance to unwind, relax and escape.

Myself and the team at the estate are currently working towards transforming parts of the estate into accommodation and wedding venue. Plans for the Granary Mill are a working progress, and will become available late 2023 for short stays, but the private traditional Walled gardens at Little Ponton Hall on the estate are currently used for exclusive outdoor wedding receptions and ceremony’s. If you want to stay a little closer to the estate cottage for a more quiet weekend getaway, the Stoke Rochford Village and Lake just beyond the main gates of Stoke Rochford Hall offer a romantic and picturesque walk for peace of mind or to practice your photography skills. If your feeling competitive Stoke Rochford boasts a Golf club next door and a stones throw to view the historical architecture of Stoke Rochford Hall, a must see. For country drives and to really experience some of what Lincolnshire has to offer, I would recommend a visit to Stamford for a days shopping and to take in the typical architecture of the region followed by a long Lunch at the George booking in advance highly recommended, or if your travelling with family or children Oakham offers great water sports, walkways and cycle paths around Rutland water. Oak tree cottage offers stays for both couples and Families, with two rooms available the cottage has plenty of room for up to four guest.
