Step back in time and enjoy the peaceful grounds. This private room with private bath is located in a 1908 home. Enjoy our parlor with a 1908 piano or enjoy quiet time on the proch or in the backyard. The choises are endless. Please note:Only one parking spot available per reservation. The Alling House is located in Orange City, Florida, just three miles east of Blue Spring State Park where thousands of people come each year to see the manatees. The home was built in 1908 and is a contributing property to the Orange City Historic District. Orange City was established in 1882 as a stop along the St. John’s River. The original owner was Samuel C. Hood, a biologist that focused primarily on fungus-related plants. Edward B. Alling bought the house in 1918. He lived in the house for over 40 years. He was one of Orange City’s most well-known mayors, serving four terms, donating the property where City Hall is located and leading the city in erecting the building. He and his wife were also very active in the American Red Cross and donated the property where the Orange City chapter building is located. The house is located on close to three acres, which provides a majestic presentation of the structure with room for landscaping, relaxed walks and other outside activities. There are five other buildings on the property. A pump shed, where the first well that provided water to the occupants was located, a carriage house that has been renovated with kitchen facilities and a detached barn containing a workshop with loft and two garage bays.

I’ve stayed several times with Cidalia because of the excellent accommodations and affordable pricing. She is great about getting back to me immediately, is friendly and courteous. I felt safe, love having my own private bathroom and access code to the room. Parking is great!
This is such a great Airbnb. Charming accommodations. Wonderful grounds and parlors in the main house. Great location!! Deland was a quaint town within a 15 minute drive. Amazing bike trails 50 minutes away. My husband and I had an amazing stay.
I had the pleasure of staying in the gold room at the Alling House. it was cozy and charming. Absolutely perfect. I definitely recommend and would stay there again.
Staying in Alling House (the Gold room) was a treat. The owners Cidalia and Francis have done a fantastic job restoring and maintaining a local historic property. The Gold Room is a rare combination of Victorian elegance (beautiful vintage furniture and decor) with modern comforts (adjustable bed, spotless private bathroom, top quality linen). The second floor parlor next to it is a lovely place to sit for your morning coffee or afternoon tea. While there is no kitchen (as clearly stated in the listing), there is a large refrigerator and a coffee maker with gourmet coffee provided for guests. The first floor of the house offers more comfortable sitting, an impressive collection of historic art and decor to feast your eyes on, and the best of it all for me: the well-tuned 1908 baby grand piano to play. For a few days, I left the hassle of the modern world and entered a world of peace, tranquility, history, and beauty.
The Victorian styled house, the well manicured grounds, and beautiful room decor exceeded my expectations. The mattress was comfortable, the bathroom clean, and the common area a pleasant addition where I was able to make myself a hot cup of coffee. If I ever return to the area again, I’ll be sure to stay here again. And next time, I’ll be sure to bring my wife…because she’d LOVE it.

Traveling west on Interstate 4 toward Orlando or east on Interstate 4 toward Daytona Beach, take exit 114 and go west on Highway 472 toward Orange City and Deland. Stay in the left lane and go around the loop that connects to Highway 17/92 going south. Turn left onto East French Ave. at the third traffic light. We are the second house on the left. Note the brown Blue Spring State Park signs along the way.
