Fermanagh and Omagh · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室0床2.0卫 · 可住5人 · Traditional Irish cottage in rural Fermanagh
Atticus Cottage was completely renovated in 2021 yet retains all the charm of a traditional Irish cottage. With all mod cons, this self catering accommodation is fully equipped. The homely living room has a cosy wood burning stove, a smart TV and WiFi. Plus, there are some great Irish reads to hand. It is an original Irish cottage, the door frames for upstairs bedrooms means anyone over 5'9" has to bend slightly, you quickly get used to it! Two generous sized double bedrooms upstairs, plus a study with desk and a single bed. Downstairs sofa turns into a good sized double bed with a comfortable topper. Overall, sleeps seven people and kitchen table seats six. The bathroom (complete with underfloor heating) and study have high doorways. There is an upstairs toilet and a downstairs shower/toilet so even though the cottage is traditional, there are good facilities. A recently installed dartboard in one barn and a table-tennis table in the other barn so there is inside fun to be had if the weather is not great. There is also an outside clothes line for wet suits to dry. There is a good sized Centra supermarket in Belleek (3 minute drive), has lots of fresh produce, all the essentials and a deli counter. Main street also has two pubs, gift shops, hardware shops, beauticians, Chinese takeaway, two butchers, lots of off licences and lovely tea shops. The Lemon Tree Coffee House does great soup and has a nice menu. There is also a Spar not far away in Garrison, their home made fresh sandwiches are terrific. There is a K Circle garage at the top of the road which has lots of food options and everyday goods too. Depending where you travel in from if you want to go to a big supermarket then Enniskillen has all the national supermarkets (Marks & Spencer for luxury, also Asda and Tesco), Omagh also has all the major ones too, but Centra in Belleek will see you right for pretty much everything. There is a fantastic fish shop in Ballyshannon, they do a lovely fish mix stir fry. Ballyshannon is 8-10 minute drive, straight road out, very easy. Ballyshannon is more populous than Belleek so has more taxi choices if you want a car free night in the pubs with live music. Belleek’s best live music is in The Fiddlestone, book a taxi in advance. Nearest blue flag beaches are Rossnowlagh (20 min drive) and Bundoran (15 min drive). Rossnowlagh is renowned for its surfing. Bundoran has a water park and lots of amusements. For foodies, book well ahead for MacNean in Blacklion. The Courthouse in Kinloch is terrific (take your time and drive the long way around Lough Melvin via Garrison, very picturesque). Tully Mill is worth a visit and drive through the Lough Navar Forest Drive on the way there. Market House Restaurant in Donegal Town does an amazing surf and turf on a hot stone. Luxury hotel Harvey’s Point, in Donegal, does a great Sunday lunch. Lusty Beg is a short drive and worth the experience of getting the short ferry over - really good food spot too. For cracking pub food, especially on a lovely day, head to Smugglers Creek Inn overlooking Rossnowlagh beach. Castle Caldwell is lovely for a stroll right on the edge of the lough. James, at Dulrush Fishing Lodge, can sort out fishing boat hire (he also runs Black Cat Cove pub). Castle Archdale Boat Hire & Water Sports rents day boats, either half or full day, to explore the lough and islands. The Cuilcagh Boardwalk gives a great sense of achievement, good for a day out with a packed lunch to have at the top. Culture wise, check out Enniskillen, Bundoran and Ballyshannon (Rory Gallagher Festival in June & Folk Festival in August). The Rainbow Ballroom of Romance, in Glenfarne, worth a look too and slightly further afield there is Cavan Town Hall.
Many Thanks to Patrick & Cath for being wonderful hosts. We throughly enjoyed our stay at Atticus Cottage. Although our stay was very short we had everything we needed for our stay. The cottage is immaculate, from the beautiful cottage kitchen to the cosy wood burner in the lounge, the double bedrooms were lovely and spacious and everything was very clean and tidy. We contacted Cath & Patrick before our arrival for a couple of small requests which they were more than happy to accomodate and they also left us some provisions on our arrival which was a lovely touch as we arrived quite late at night. Commuication was great with Cath & Patrick and very responsive. Would we stay here again " Definitely Yes" could not recommend Atticus Cottage highly!!! Thanks again Patrick & Cath we very much appreciate the wonderful hospitality shown to us. Best Wishes Yvonne, James & family.
Nice and cosy place, great to relax in the evenings with the log fire lit. Everything was clean and tidy. Good size house for families inside and out (though for younger kids - it is on a main road, quite busy at times) but still good location for exploring the local area around all the Loughs and nearby forest walks/drives, and even further a field into Ireland (Wild Atlantic Way)
There is a gate to the property and a driveway area that can accommodate 3 cars easily or 4/5 cars at a push. The space at the front of the property can take a vehicle of any size.
