My Airbnb booking turned into a nightmare when I couldn’t access the apartment at 3 a.m., forced to stay outside in freezing cold all night. Despite the listing’s promise and my immediate need, the host’s last-minute request to delay check-in for cleaning was a bad start. It got worse when the lockbox code failed, with no immediate help from the host or Airbnb. Stranded and cold, with my health condition worsening, I felt abandoned. Airbnb’s slow response and the host’s impractical suggestions, like retrieving keys from their workplace, added to my ordeal. Finally, Airbnb refunded me, but the damage was done. I had to find a hotel in desperation. This situation could’ve been avoided with better preparation and quicker support. A truly disappointing experience.

Had a very pleasant stay at Kay’s flat. The pictures didn’t do much justice as to the amount of space you will be getting at a reasonably great price especially in Manhattan. The place is close to the subway (less than 5 mins’walk) and therefore made it convenient for me to go where I need to be in mid-Manhattan. There are nearby restaurants to choose from. What made my stay truly memorable was getting to know the host who is very friendly and helpful. He is very responsive and easily approachable. Had enjoyed our evening conversations and had gotten to learn a lot of things from the perspective of someone from the other side of the continent.
