Great bones, but grubby for the money. Arrival: Be sure to lookup the lockbox code prior to arrival as the area has no-reception. Fortunately, Caroline was quickly responsive when we drove back toward town. With code in hand, entry over the little foot bridge was easy and magical. The house is as described with standard amenities. It has the simple, modern white aesthetic that is so popular, and I imagine it was very nice when it was first set up. The bathroom and kitchen were clean. On-site laundry was also a perk. Unfortunately the benefits stop there. My assumption is this was set up with used rugs and furniture and has just had a lot of use without necessary upkeep. We found it smelled overwhelmingly of animals. All of the linens need updating or a much stronger detergent for cleaning. The walls and rugs are badly stained. The couch is barely functional. We found ear buds and presumably animal feces matted into the rug of one of the bedrooms.

Place was great, very cozy and peaceful. Great location by cute shops in downtown Fairfax. Overall great stay

Caroline's home was perfect for our stay in the area. Lovely surroundings, especially with the brook and lights in the yard and on the bridge. Close to many restaurants in Fairfax and San Rafael.

We truly enjoyed our stay in this quaint and lovely home. The entry bridge with lights gave us a warm welcome. Kitchen and living space were just enough for what we needed. The beds were comfy, and the bathroom convenient. Closet space in main bedroom was amazing. It is always nice having a washer and dryer. The cottage is centrally located with plenty of eateries nearby. Caroline was quick to respond to my two questions, and all was straight forward and easy. Wished we had more time!
