Located in the historic center of Motovun, this stone 4 storehouse offers everything one needs for a vacation in the center of the Istrian peninsula. The house is placed in a quiet street that leads directly to the town's main square, reachable by a few minute walk. The house has been recently restored and its interior combines a traditional and modern decorative style. A great asset of the house is a spacious and carefully arranged garden overlooking the famous Motovun’s city walls. On the ground floor, which is reachable from the main entrance, there is a room for rest and leisure with a carefully assorted library available to the guests. Here is located a small laundry and toilet. The room has a stone floor, so it's pleasantly fresh during summer, while one can use the fireplace to warm the premises during colder seasons. On the first floor, there are two separate, tastefully decorated bedrooms with double beds. There is a spacious bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower, on the same floor. This floor has a separate side entrance. On the second floor, there is a vast room where you can find the living room with a large sofa and a modern tv, a dining area with a big table, and the kitchen provided with a gas stove, a dishwasher, a big fridge, and a coffee machine. This room has direct access to the spacious back garden overlooking the famous Motovun's city walls. Carefully arranged and enriched with Mediterranean plants, the garden offers its guests plenty of possibilities for rest and leisure. In the garden, one can find two seating areas where guests can enjoy the excellent Istrian wines, morning coffees, or local gastronomic delicacies which can be prepared using the ceramic charcoal grill or, the wood-fired pizza oven that is available to the guests in this garden. There is a bedroom on the fourth and last floor, equipped with a double bed, overlooking the surrounding hills and vineyards. The room has a separate bathroom fitted with a bathtub and a shower.

Schönes Haus in ruhiger Lage, toll eingerichtet und top ausgestattet. Sehr nett fanden wir, daß im Kühlschrank Getränke und istrische Spezialitäten für uns vorbereitet waren. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können die Unterkunft absolut empfehlen.
We spent a week at Igor's place as a family and didn't want to leave again. The house is beautiful and charming. We loved all the personal touches, lots of books and artwork ... Since we enjoy cooking, we spent a lot of time on the main level in the kitchen and on the patio, firing up the pizza oven and hanging out in the garden. Igor and his wife went above and beyond making us feel welcome, stocking the fridge for us and checking in repeatedly if everything was going fine.
We had a great time in Igor and Barbaras house in Motovun. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They installed safety doors at the stairs for our baby, they left some groceries in the fridge for us, they offered some home made welcome gifts… We felt like home in this beautiful, well equiped house. Motovun and its surroundings are beautiful too, allthough we couldn‘t visit that much due to the very hot temperatures. We spent most of the time at the beach in Umag, which was unfortunately a bit further away than expected, but still easily reachable by car. Maybe we‘ll come back one day in spring or autumm, to visit more of Motovun‘s surroundings.
Het huis van Igor is groot en ruim, prachtig ingericht, modern en van alle gemakken voorzien. Igor is een geweldige gastheer, legde alles tot in detail uit. Hij is altijd bereikbaar en erg attent.
We had a wonderful stay in Motovun. Igor's place has all the amenities you need and enough room for the two families with kids we were. Igor was always helpful and even got us entries to the Motovun film festival. We felt immediately at home at his place and a small welcome present was waiting for us. He was also patient when something went wrong. We imagined the garden a bit bigger based on the pictures but that wasn't a problem at all - and we got to see a hummingbird for the first time sitting next to the beautiful lavender bushes. All in all a great experience and very recommendable!

Motovun is a town erected on a 277 m hill in the valley of the river Mirna. With a unique position in the heart of the Istrian peninsula, spectacular views, and a historic town center with numerous cultural heritage sites, Motovun is considered the most charming and well-preserved Medieval town in the center of Istria.
At the foot of Motovun runs the longest Istrian river, Mirna, and here you can find the lush Motovun Forest with a predominance of oaks (Quercus robur). Nowadays, the Motovun Forest is the largest biotope for white truffles (Tuber magnatum Pico) in the world, so it's possible to make an organized hunt for this rare delicacy. Summer is the season of the black truffle while autumn is reserved for the more esteemed white truffle.
Motovun and its surroundings are well known for their famous and award-winning wines from the many local wineries (Tomaz, Fakin, Benvenuti, Fachin, Valenta, Tikel, Roxanich) where you can taste them while overlooking the nearby vineyards. In the last few years, the area is becoming more prominent in the production of excellent olive oil (Ipša, Černeka).
Motovun's surroundings offer plenty of possibilities for sports activities as well. From cycling to walking down numerous demanding and less-demanding trails. The central part of Istria has more than 20 maintained and marked trails, technically demanding because of the surface, with many ascents and descents thus perfectly suitable for experienced cyclists. The walking trails, on the other hand, offer visitors an opportunity to explore the many forests and magical paths that pervade this area.
For those who prefer cultural events, one must mention the Motovun Film Festival, which takes place every year in the last week of July and offers to the public the latest accomplishments in the art of film.
Even though Motovun is placed in the peninsula inland, the Istrian west coast beaches are just a 15-minute drive away. For example, the coastal towns of Poreč and Novigrad are just 29 kilometers far from Motovun, so the guests can freshen up in the Adriatic Sea during the summer.
