This Matacha was beautiful. The garden was nice to look at after having an amazing bath. It had bed and futon which was great because I preferred the futon and my wife the bed. The area is so quiet and peaceful and close to train station and local restaurants that had English menu’s. The tablet checkout was extremely easy, pressed two buttons. The message sent didn’t appear to advise which one of the houses our booking was for and there were three. The first one the code didn’t work but the second one it did so we know that was ours. When coming back to Kyoto will stay again in this beautifully restored house.

Really beautiful space, felt very authentic, great shower and tub, nice kitchen. A little far out of the centre, but very quiet suburb.

An authentic gem in Kyoto. Although it was not that close to any public transportation (approx 10-12 min walk) we did enjoy this experience.

Beautiful place, lovely peaceful garden, good location out of CBD but close to buses, trains and convenient store. Beautiful shower and bath. Warm and cozy :)

Our stay was great. The inside was clean and tidy. The gem of the house is the bath. The house is located in a quite neighbourhood but it’s easy to get anywhere by bus. The hallway gets pretty cold in winter, so close the doors and keep the AC on. Overall, highly recommended.
