We spent a delightful two weeks at the villa at Alma de Ojochal. Yuli and Eddy were welcoming, and they gave many helpful suggestions as we navigated around the Ojochal area. The house was conveniently located on the grounds of a boutique resort, where we enjoyed the lovely pool and dined at the Bamboo Room frequently. The food was very good and we were treated to live music on several occasions! We spent many hours lounging in our own pool at the villa. Although smaller than the hotel pool, it was incredibly refreshing and perfect for quick cool downs! We loved waking up to the sounds of parrots, parakeets, laughing falcons! Our gorgeous views were of the Pacific, the mountains, and the lush jungle, home of howler and capuchin monkeys, coatimundi, and beautiful butterflies. It was a peaceful retreat, far from the craziness of some of the larger beach towns. Friendly people, safe towns, gorgeous beaches! Thank you Kelli for sharing your home with us! Costa Rica…Pura Vida!

Kelli’s house was a wonderful place to stay. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom which is nice and the pool was a lovely place to refresh from the heat and relax. The house faces the sunset and you can see the ocean in the distance. It is in on the hill in. the jungle and surrounded by mountains and trees. Lots of birds and lizard sightings. The house being located on the hotel property was a plus so we could eat at the restaurant if we didn’t feel like cooking and we could rely on the staff to book activities and deal with anything we needed for the house, etc. Kelli was incredibly friendly, responsive and eager to make our stay perfect. We plan to return!

Overall, the stay was amazing. The view, the place, the pool, the weather, the people. There are a lot of activities to do close to the villa. A car is a must. Great waterfalls, beaches, food, tours, hikes and more. Kelli gave good advices and recommandations. She is proactive, helpful, answered all of our questions. She is a great host. You must also consider the fact that you are in the wood/jungle/humid. There are a lot of insects, lizards, birds, … at the villa, so keep that in mind. The service from the staff was amazing. The food at the restaurant was good, the cocktails, the energy. A great place to go after a long day at the beach! As for the villa, overall, it is great. The 2 master bedrooms are on the first floor, it is sunny all day long. Pretty warm at the end of the day even with curtains and AC. The 3rd bedroom is apart on the lower portion of the house so you must take the stairs outside to go to your room. Not the end of the world but to be considered.

The house conforms 100% to the pictures and descriptions and is very well appointed. The living area, centered around the pool, is comfortable and offers nice view of the ocean and surrounding country side. Initially we were worried about insects in the evening with all that open space and lighting but it was fine and the geckos help keep them at bay. The pool is particularly welcome after a hot day out and is a nice place to cool down and relax. The gas barbecue is superb and easy to use and the kitchen has everything you need, including a mixer to make smoothies with the local trove of fruit. The rooms are very well appointed too with en-suite bathrooms with big showers each, airco, fans and storage space. The hotel staff next door are responsive and helpful and will even deliver cocktails over the weekend. The house is about 5 mn from the main road and 15 mn from Uvita which makes it easy to do some shopping. All in all, a very nice experience in Kelli’s house. We’ll be back!
