Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. This classic New Orleans shotgun home is located in the Bywater neighborhood, a vibrant and historic area in the heart of the city with restaurants, coffee shops, and bars in easy walking distance. The house is a double shotgun, which is a classic New Orleans housing type found in most of the historic areas of the city. There are two units in the house, each a mirror image of the other. My wife and I live in one unit while guests have full access to the other. Each unit is accessed independently from the street and we have a shared garden and patio in the back. You’ll enjoy an open living and dining layout at the front of the house that is great for relaxing and watching TV or hosting a small dinner party. The bathroom is located off a hallway that connects the bedroom to the front of the house. There you’ll enjoy a claw foot tub, separate shower, as well as a washer and dryer. The bedroom and a flex room are at the back of the house and look out at the garden. The house has many historic features including 12’ ceilings, exposed brick, heart of pine floors, and large windows that bring great light to the space. While we enjoy the historic nature of the house it has also been fully updated so you can enjoy all the usual creature comforts.

It's the best Airbnb accommodation I've ever stayed in. The house is fully equipped for long stays, with everything you could possibly need (and more!). It's a large, very luminous house, well-climatized, and has a beautiful patio (and upon arrival was spotless!). The decoration, furniture, and lighting are perfect, making it a very cozy place. The neighborhood is quiet, and it's easy to get around to different points of the city. Tim and Nikki were wonderful hosts; they live next door, so they are available to address any questions/needs, and communication was very easy. The tableware, kitchen, and cleaning supplies are very, very complete. The back room is set up like a relaxation/work space with a spacious desk, yoga mats, and garden views. We had a wonderful month there and would definitely stay again if we return to NOLA. 100% recommended!

Tim's place was absolutely wonderful. Very well-appointed with everything I needed during our two-month stay. Tim was extremely responsive and helpful with anything we needed. The space itself was peaceful and quiet and had an excellent kitchen, wonderful work space, and comfy areas to relax in (and the place gets great light, as well)! The location was wonderful...just steps from Crescent Park, as well as a number of wonderful bars and restaurants. Highly recommended--would definitely stay here again.

Tim and Niki were fantastic hosts. The place was clean and had everything for short and long-term stays. They have gone out of their way to make the place feel like a home. I will call on them the next time I need a lovely home in Bywater.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. I stayed here two months and it was absolutely perfect. Walkable to so many great places in the Bywater, easy parking, clean and minimal while still having everything a long-term resident would need, flexible and friendly hosts. If I’m ever in New Orleans for another long visit, I’m absolutely going to try and stay here. Do not hesitate — book this place!

The Bywater is located downriver from the French Quarter, approximately 2 miles from Jackson Square. The area is mainly residential, with restaurants, coffee shops, bars, breweries, and galleries sprinkled through the neighborhood making it an ideal area for walking. At the end of our street is Crescent Park which connects the neighborhood to the French Quarter along the river and is ideal for running, strolling, or picnicking while ships pass on the river. The city’s best nightlife is a short distance away on St Claude Avenue or Frenchmen Street. During Carnival the neighborhood is a colorful array of costumes for the Society of St Anne parade on Mardi Gras Day. We love our neighborhood so feel free to ask for recommendations during your stay!

Free street parking is located directly in front of the house and parking within a block is always available. The Bywater is an easy neighborhood to walk around with many amenities within a short distance. There are also two public bike stations within two blocks. Just download the Blue Bikes app and follow the instructions to rent. If you’d like to use public transit, RTA busses run on St Claude Avenue one block away. Download the RTA’s app, Le Pass, to check routes and schedules and purchase your fare. The RTA also operates streetcars and ferries in the city so you can access those through Le Pass as well. Uber and Lyft rides are also plentiful and provide the easiest way to get to the airport.
