Artist's studio converted into a tranquil place with comfort, old world charm and a homely feel in mind. All one's needs are considered and more. Lovers, young families, geriatrics, loners, dreamers, buddies, weary souls, travellers of the world, come experience the warm embrace of this quaint suburb in St Helenabay on the West Coast of South Africa. A beach that stretches for miles, wild flowers in season, buck, tortoises wandering in the fields, whales and dolphins frolicking in the waves... The cottage consists of an open plan lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with a daybed in the lounge. The bedroom is of a generous size with a quality queen size bed, free standing cupboard and chest of drawers. There is also an ensuite bathroom fitted with a sizeable shower, bath, basin and toilet.

Irene and Russell are friendly and welcoming hosts. We felt right at home. Instructions were clear. Communication was responsive. Irene met us when we arrived and explained everything we needed to know. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need - which we really appreciated. This to us was a home away from home. There were also a lot of welcoming and thoughtful touches in the apartment and a small little gift for our little boy. It looks exactly like the photos. The apartment is walking distance from the beach. We will definitely visit again. We've arrived as guests and left as family.
We didn't like it. We rented BNB for a month and left after 3 nights. Somehow the host forgot to mention construction of another house outside the windows, so instead of picturesque views from the windows (see photos in the ads), we experienced noise of construction, the chattering of workers, the barking of dogs in the morning - such a vacation does not look like a relaxing one, and given the fact there is nothing to do in the area, it is not very clear why to come here at all. Though we received long welcome messages and instructions from the host, really important stuff was omitted. To sum up: 1. The interior is nice 2. No door between the bathroom and the bedroom, be warned 3. If the weather’s hot, the house heats up very much, the fan helps little 4. There’s nothing to do in the area, the terrain is flat and boring. The nearest good restaurants are 20-30 minutes drive 5. The host communicates nicely, but cannot resolve important issues and keeps silent about the facts.

Irene’s place was amazing. Very beautiful, clean and peacefull. Irene and Russel are great hosts, they respond very quick and give you more than enough information about the accomadation. Irene also bought a small gift for our baby, so thoughtfull! We will defenitely come back if we are in the area again

It is a small neighborhood with mostly retirees living in it and/or holiday homes. People are friendly and congenial taking dogs for walks, chatting to each other and cycling.
Within the suburb, one can walk safely around and to the beach. However, since the town itself stretches along the beach for several miles/kilometres, a car is recommended in order to get to amenities and restaurants. Exploring the West Coast is recommended, but also with a vehicle. Being a small town tho, public transport is a scarcity.
