Nice location was very quiet, and the home was very nice

This is the coolest place! We just moved down her from the West coast and needed somewhere to stay until our home sale closed. So many sleeping options, super stocked kitchen. An amazing introduction to the Louisiana area for us. It was clean and cool when we arrived. Immediately noticed all the kitchen utensils and began meal planning for our week. The laundry facilities were high end. And it feels like you’re in the middle of the bayou with the gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. Conveniently located to everywhere, we were able to enjoy the white linen night in Slidell. And head over to Mandeville to explore the lakeshore. My husband had a quick 25 minute commute to NOLA. The best part was the gator in the water behind the house. Not scary at all, but so cool to observe. When he hears you he rapidly swims up to just hang by the dock and check you out. Nick was super accommodating and accepted an additional night when our home closing ended up going over. All in all just a lovely stay, with all amenities needed for a wonderful bayou experience. Book now! I’m sure this southern treasure fills up fast!

Great experience at Bijou on the Bayou! We had PLENTY of space for our group of 8 + 1 dog. Nick is very quick to respond and address any questions/concerns. He offered suggestions before we arrived and helped make the stay more enjoyable. The kitchen furnished everything we needed for our stay except for a large crab boil pot. However, we had plenty of other pots available and we were able to make it work. Beds are very comfortable! There is a lot more space in general than I thought there would be. My in-laws thought the basement bedroom was a little warmer at night than the upstairs but the fans provided helped keep it comfortable. The house is closer to the road than it appears but there is plenty of space in the side yard & backyard for kids/pets. The view from the dining room is beautiful! We loved fishing off the dock and watching the alligator in his natural habitat right there in the backyard. He was out in the morning and evening each day but never bothered anyone. We only caught a few fish during our stay - we were hoping for more fish & crabs - but it was still fun for the kids. (We purchased fresh crab, shrimp & crawfish plus a local seasoning at Slidell Seafood Market for our boil.) I think Slidell might be the friendliest town in Louisiana! And it’s centrally located so we were able to easily access New Orleans and beaches in Mississippi in just 30-45 mins. We also visited Fontainebleau State Park and it’s def worth it! Only $3/person for a day pass. Our kids loved the splash pad and the lake. Very clean and beautiful scenery everywhere you look! Cajun Encounters provided an incredible swamp tour, which I highly recommend! We had so much fun and made so many memories! There really is something for everyone in this area!! We can’t wait to come back!
