Thank you for the lovely stay, Debra! The place was beautiful and my partner and I will definitely be back soon.
Wonderful little cottage for a weekend getaway! Beautifully located in the centre of Wye Valley - we'd love to come back one day! Debra was an amazing host, leaving us not only with a clean and beautifully decorated cottage, but also with the fireplace made up (really appreciated for evenings spent reading on the couch). She went above and beyond to even provide bathroom amenities and some milk for breakfast! I can honestly say that this was one of the best vacations we have ever had.
Cottage is in a lovely position in Wye valley. Whilst there is only one car parking place there, extra parking is available in the main lane through Brockweir. Cottage was bright and clean, matching description and photos on the website. Heating was via electric radiators with individual easy-to-set thermostat; there was also a very good wood burner left ready to use with an initial supply of wood. Kitchen and bathroom both well-appointment with all needs met, even some egg cups for breakfast! Beds were clean and reasonably comfortable but a little soft and sagging for my liking - could do with firmer mattresses and firmer support. Communication with the host was excellent and was even offered an earlier check-in than planned. Altogether, a very enjoyable stay.
Lovely place, excellent communication. Debra’s partner even came and rescued us on a rather ambitious late night river walk by coming to find us in the Tintern pub and dropping off a torch!
Brockweir with its narrow streets and stone cottages is a village steeped in history, situated in the beautiful Forest of Dean it fronts the River Wye. Surrounded by the forest it is fantastic for walking, cycling or kyaking holidays. 2 miles easy flat walk along the river will bring you into Tintern where you can visit the spectacular Abbey Ruins, Tintern Old Railway or sip a local ale in one of the pubs. Offas Dyke Path is also easy to follow from Brockweir. The Wye is home to Otters, Kingfishers and Salmon and the forest is filled with wild garlic and bluebells at the right time of year.
Underhill Road is narrow and only suitable for vehicles no wider than a camper van. There is a parking lot next to the house for one vehicle. There is a bus 69 service from Chepstow to Monmouth that stops near the village.
