Bonsall · 农家仓房 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Magical Historic Barn Conversion
Retreat from the world in this magical, spacious open-plan 17th Century barn converted in 1960s as an artist's studio. Feel energised wrapped in the rolling hills of Bonsall with it's stunning flora and fauna. Perfect for a romantic escape, or creative inspiration. Enjoy taking long walks and hot baths, toasting up by the wood burning stove. Meet the locals for live music every weekend at the pub, or simply retire from the hustle and savour the crisp stillness. Friendly feline likely to appear. The barn is set within the grounds of a 17th Century Manor House and was once home to the animals that grazed the surrounding fields. It's thick stone walls shield from the elements and you will feel as though you're tucked into a cosy French farmhouse or a stylish '60s chalet. Outside the window you will see an Ash tree hundreds of years old which guards the property and is the source of the beautiful blackbirds and wood pigeons that will gently coo and sing at dawn and dusk. Still within an easy stroll of the village but set back from the road, you will be completely cloaked in the sounds of nature. Expect the cows and horses to serenade from time to time, who you will see from the garden.
This barn is just beautiful , inside and out. Its such a quirky place to stay and we absolutely loved it. Amy couldn't have done anymore for us. we will definitely be coming back :)
Fantastic space and great location. We had a wonderful weekend to relax, recharge and enjoy the scenery.
Amy was a fantastic host, very welcoming and gave lots of recommendations for restaurants in the area. The barn is really beautiful, it had everything we needed (including a 4 legged visitor who was very welcome) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. She even posted a forgotten pair of socks out to us! A great experience and a lovely break :)
Such a beautiful couple of days, amazing rustic space in a beautiful village. Amy was a lovely host, kind, accommodating and very responsive. Would highly recommend
Amy was welcoming and friendly, and the barn is amazing. It has everything you need for a break in beautiful Derbyshire. We were lucky to be blessed with sunshine, which meant we enjoyed sitting outside, but would have loved to fire up the wood burner on a colder day or evening. Definitely recommend and we hope to return.
Bonsall is a safe and friendly village that welcomes hikers and people of all ages, with its many interlinking walking routes and bridal paths across the Moor and the Limestone Way. Within a few mins walk of the barn, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast at The Fountain cafe in the centre of the village or (the quieter of the two pubs) King's Head. Alternatively, you can walk across the fields to the famous (Trip Advisor's top-rated) Barley Mow where you can be thoroughly entertained whilst tucking into home-cooked food and local cider or ales.
For for the more adventurous walker (or 5 min drive away) in Cromford you can enjoy a home-cooked breakfast, lunch or cakes at the famous Scarthin's Books (voted Britain's #1 bookstore). You'll have to arrive early to make the ever-popular fish & chip shop, to be enjoyed after a swim in the neighbouring Matlock Bath thermal spring swimming pool, set within the greenery of the New Bath Hotel. In summer you can also take the cable car from Matlock Bath and stop for tea at 'Little Switzerland'.
Also nearby is the historic fairtrade town of Wirksworth with it's farmer's market, artisan shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Chatsworth House is within a 30min drive where you can admire the beautiful grounds and swim in the river.
