Our 2-bed, 1-bath forest cabin is the true tranquil off grid experience. 25 minutes from Colorado Springs, it is located in the serenity of Black Forest, with the convenience of grocery and restaurants 7 miles away. Built as a cutting edge eco friendly retreat and stocked with luxury conveniences for our guests - but what you'll love most is the stillness of nature. Retreat from the hustle of life in our tranquil, gated, off-grid Forest Cottage. You’ll be in a completely private space, surrounded by a pond and 15 acres of old growth Spruce and Ponderosa pine. You’ll also enjoy a fully stocked kitchen to make home cooked meals, and retire with luxury bath towels and Pimacott all cotton linens in the 2 bedrooms, plus one day bed in the living room. You’ll be kept company on your walks through the woods by mule deer, foxes, black squirrels, wild turkeys, and even the occasional elk, moose, or bobcat. The pond, about 500 feet from the Forest Cottage, is also full of bass and goldfish. Inside the kitchen, you'll find a fully stocked kitchen with all the tools you need to cook yourself a gourmet meal from scratch: silverware, a full set of pots, pans, toaster, microwave, popcorn maker, etc. We also have tea, fresh ground coffee, and drip coffee maker ready for your quiet mornings. If you’d like to make pancakes, there’s Kodiak pancake mix ready for you to cook up and serve fresh. And if our chickens are currently laying eggs in the spring and summer months, we will have fresh farm eggs ready for you to fry up. (We live 10 minutes away for any other needs you may have during your stay). Enjoy quiet time indoors playing board and card games with a large Great Room living area with boho leather couch and chair. The 55” OLED flat screen TV has Netflix, Prime, and Disney + available with surround sound speakers. There’s also kids’ toys, including a big bin on wooden train tracks and cars. In terms of amenities, we've got you covered, too: you'll have access to all of the important things like an iron, blow dryer, towels, soap, shampoo, body wash, top of the line bath towels and bed linens, cotton swabs, etc – so no need to travel with those items when you stay with us. Our two bedroom, one bath cottage is the perfect getaway for couples, families, and small groups. The Cottage is furnished with one king-sized bed, one queen-sized bed, and one twin-sized day bed. Our cottage is truly an off grid experience in the forest, with an incinerating toilet, too! This can be different from your normal toilet experience, just so you're aware, as it incinerates all toilet waste. Our space was built as an eco-friendly escape, and is structured entirely out of straw and stucco. It is cutting edge in green building technology; the straw and stucco combo uses materials of the earth, produces almost zero pollutants in construction, and is incredibly successful in holding both heat and cooled air for maximum efficiency. You can even peek at the “truth window” inside the cottage and see the inner wall straw lining. In keeping with the off-grid features, we have no dishwasher, as all drain water goes straight into the ground. The propane stove gives the cottage the perfect cabin getaway feel, just like the magic of the woods around you. The heat is controlled by thermostat to ensure steady heat and comfort, with the rustic feel of the wood stove look and proximity to the great outdoors. Talk about a work-cay-tion! You can answer calls and emails while overlooking a peaceful view of the pond, or take a morning stroll with your coffee among the forest and soak up the quiet surroundings. Return to start work from the deck in Adirondack chairs where the local wildlife will keep you company. There is a hot tub is on the deck of the big house, about a quarter mile away on the same property. *If someone is checked into the big house, the hot tub will not be available to use.* If no one is currently staying there, you are free to use it! Just ask us about availability. We are also very close to grocery, restaurants, and the local military bases. We welcome long term business stays. (What could be better than working from the forest with deer and birds chirping around you?). The fast wifi and massive solid wood kitchen table is an added bonus to being able to set up and work from the forest. Our Forest Cottage is completely detached AND gated. There may be other guests renting in the bigger house, a quarter mile down the driveway, thus the outdoors and pond area would be shared. Otherwise, the property is 100% PRIVATE. As I mentioned earlier, our forest cottage is so serene, relaxing, and so perfect, you'll want to stay forever. We've had guests ask to buy it on the spot :)(Seriously).
