The house in Šmarje is a great base for exploring the Slovenian coast and nearby vineyards and olive groves. The kitchen is well equipped and Doris is a great host.

A true gem in Slovenia. The house is elegantly decorated with charm and character. It is warm and cosy and nearby fantastic places like Piran and KOPER. We so enjoyed our stay at Wine and Apartment Vinales! My husband and I have stayed at 8 different places over the past month and Doris' apartment was perhaps our favorite. The space is beautifully decorated with furniture crafted by Doris' husband using wine barrels. It was clean and comfortable, providing a wonderful peaceful spot to return home after our travels to the Slovenian coast. Doris met us at the door to welcome us and orient us to the space. We enjoyed their delicious wine and olive oil. She also left a thoughtful basket of treats as well as many brochures and maps for local attractions. She was always available if we had any questions. We highly recommend this beautiful place!

Fantastische woning; schoon en voorzien van allerlei handige spulletjes zoals olie, fohn, stijkplank etc. Doris is heel vriendelijk en erg goed bereikbaar. Ook fijn was het ontbijtpakketje dat klaar stond, net als een lekkere fles eigengemaakte wijn. Erg attent! Verder ligt Smarje centraal; de kust is erg goed bereikbaar (waarbij we gebruik konden maken van enkele wegen voor locals), maar ook het binnenland en Ljubljana liggen niet ver weg en zijn de moeite van bezoeken waard!

Doris’s apartment was picture perfect. Everything in the apartment was new, well put together, clean, smartly organized, and beautiful. Every appliance was new and everything was functioning properly. The beds and comforters were so cozy. Everything you could ever need was in the apartment, even toys for my baby! The apartment is in a beautiful, safe, quiet neighborhood and is very easy to find. Doris was very welcoming and even provided us a bottle of wine to try from her vineyard and olive oil to sample. She left a personalized welcome message which was a very nice touch. There is plenty of room on the property to let the kids run free. It is only 10 minutes from the coastal towns. It is one hour from the capital and about 1 hour 45 minutes to Bled and Vintgar Gorge. It is 45 minutes to the Trieste airport. There is no border anymore so traveling from Italy to Slovenia is easy. My son and I stayed by ourselves and we had an amazing time. This was 1000% better than a hotel.
