Lonton Garden Rooms are located within the grounds of our converted farm house at Lime Kilns Farm, in the tiny hamlet of Lonton. Lime Kilns Farm has been our home or nearly twenty years and also home of our family business, Lonton Coffee Company. Our artisan coffee roastery was founded here eight years ago. As you’d expect freshly roasted coffee will be a plenty.
There's free parking at the top of the drive opposite the entrance to the Garden Rooms. Opposite the parking bay you will see an enclosed stone walled entrance which leads to an antique studded oak door bearing the name plate: LUNA. Once the door to your garden room is closed you have complete privacy within your space.
Lonton is equidistant between two beautiful villages: Middleton in Teesdale, where you’ll find a local butcher, antique shop, two eating pubs The Teesdale & The Foresters, a delicatesen, several cafe's, a pharmacy, fuel station and a late night Co-op grocery store. Mickleton is also just one mile away under the magnificent via-duct by car or a short walk along the disused railway track The Blacksmith Arms pub in Mickleton serves homemade pizza's to eat in or takeaway.
The Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk (3 miles) - beautiful picturesque beer garden and fantastic food - booking is advisable. The next village on the way to Barnard Castle is Cotherstone (5 miles) drop in to The Fox & Hounds, it's a lovely traditional pub and serves delicious home cooked meals.
Barnard Castle is a bustling market town with a superb offering of antique shops, bakers and eateries - just 9 miles from Lonton. Explore the riverbank and woodland walks near to the castle or The Bowes Museum which houses internationally significant collections of fine and decorative arts and also holds several exhibitions throughout the year, they also have a delightful Cafe serving great food. Raby Castle is also just 13 miles away and is a stunning location with cafe, shops and beautiful gardens and wild deer.
