The host was great anything I needed was a phone call away. Compared to a hotel, the cost was lower, and the feeling of homey vacation was awesome. upon arrival the water heater for the pool was not working. Within hours the pool man was on site to repair. I do not recommend this house for persons with limited mobility. There are no grab bars in any of the 3 showers, or in the pool area steps. It is an elevated house, so there are steep stairs to climb and descend. If you have a boat, this is a fabulous rental. it has lift docking, and seawall to dock safely. The dock area can accommodate multiple watercraft or large vessels. Loads of outdoor ways to cook and entertain family and guest. The pool deck and furnishings are awesome. Large jacuzzi and refreshing pool. The lower room is well furnished and has modern exercise devises, large screen TV and mini fridge to keep your drinks cold while watching a game with the Boys and telling fish lies.

Positives: Very nice house- recently remodeled and pictures are accurate-location is great right on the water. Saw sea turtles, manatees, and tarpon, jumping out of the water every time we looked. Water access for the kayaks and paddle boards was perfect. Negatives: Day one we woke up to thousands of sugar ants in our food. Messaged the owners and they quickly sent out a high school kid with a bottle of Home Depot bug spray. Ants were gone for a day but quickly returned. This is something that’s an issue with the location I’m sure- so we just bought ziplocks and kept all food in them. Solved the issue, but containers provided would have been nice if this is a continuous issue. I will note that there is not an outdoor kitchen as noted, just a rusty/dirty charcoal only grill. Pool had a leak and the hot tub was very dated with some rust inside. All of these negatives did not detract from the wonderful time we had, but things I would want to be aware of prior to booking this place.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Jane's house! There were nine of us total, 6 adults and 3 kids (ages 8, 8 and 5). The pool and hot tub were a huge hit! The house was clean, quiet and spacious. We did fish off the bulkhead and the light at night brings the bigger fish in close. We vacation in Marathon at least once a year and this house is going on our list of places to stay again.

Amazing place, home was perfectly sized and arranged well. Tons of dock space even for the larger recreational boats. Really close to grocery stores and some really amazing restaurants. Recommend Castaway. Couldn’t have been better.
