Tillington · 整套乡村小屋 · 2室2床2.5卫 · 可住4人 · Little Barn, Tillington: a cottage in the orchards
Little Barn is tucked away in the heart of Hereford's orchards, close to golf courses, walks & cycle routes, with a friendly village pub down the lane. Super comfy beds, a relaxing bath, well equipped kitchen, and a cosy log burner... everything you need for a country break with friends or family - or a solo escape! Despite the peaceful location, the historic city of Hereford is only 4 miles away, with Ledbury, Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow, and the rolling Brecon Beacons & Malvern Hills nearby. Little Barn has been extensively renovated to a high standard, celebrating its agricultural heritage as the original coach house of a fruit farm, but with modern comfort the top priority. The open plan living area has a squashy sofa, Ercol armchairs, smart tv and plenty of board games and books, with a cocktail shaker in the cupboard. A log burner makes the cosy sitting room even cosier, with underfloor heating for extra warmth in the winter. The kitchen is ready to deal with anything from a full Sunday roast to afternoon tea, if you've been tempted by the many fantastic farmshops around this agricultural county. There's a Nespresso machine in the larder cupboard, and we can direct you to the local milk dispensers in nearby Bodenham and Hereford if you want the freshest ever cappuccino. Or you can eat outside on the patio, using the barbecue and firepit. Upstairs you'll find a super-comfortable kingsize bed, with a slipper bath in the en suite bathroom, and a little balcony for a nightcap under the stars. Across the landing, another kingsize bed can be unzipped to make two singles. If you prefer a long shower to a deep bath, there's a spacious walk-in shower downstairs. Both bathrooms have toothbrush charging points, Arran Aromatics toiletries and fresh towels. Should you need to work while you're away, the barn has fast wifi and a big kitchen table to spread out on - we can move an additional desk in for you too. (And turn the wifi OFF, if you prefer!) Outside, you can stash any bikes, canoes, fishing gear or walking equipment in the lockable space under the stairs, and there's a utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier, sink and the sort of old-school pulley maid airer that the original farmer would probably recognise, for drying damp outside gear.
Absolutely immaculate cottage in beautiful surroundings. Little Barn has obviously been renovated with love and is full of thoughtful touches. So comfortable and welcoming, with everything you could need. Immaculately clean and felt fresh. We loved the map of the area with all the highlights pointed out. Beds were so comfortable, we didn't want to get up. The cottage is in rolling countryside with orchards all around. Properly enclosed so ideal for our dog, and with great outdoor seating so we could enjoy the sunshine. . Especially grateful to Victoria and Scott for a warm and friendly welcome, great communication, and being on-hand without being intrusive. We look forward to coming back soon. Thank you.
Little Barn was beautifully clean warm and cosy. Ideally located for a wedding we were attending at Brinsop Court. Victoria has a map on the kitchen wall with places that are recommended and great to visit highlighted. The beds are so cosy and we loved the ceiling windows above the bed so we went to sleep watching the stars. A perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thanks to you both Victoria for making us and the dogs so welcome 🤗
A lovely barn, very comfortable for four and a dog, and it's as pretty as the photos and spacious bright rooms. Victoria's recommendations for things to to and places to eat are a real bonus and did not disappoint! It's a lovely quiet area and we thoroughly enjoyed our short break and would recommend. Thank you xx
What a pleasant stay we had at Little Barn. Victoria saved our bacon after being cancelled on last minute yesterday morning for another booking. Victoria also kindly accommodated an early check in, which was super useful as we were a group of friends travelling from all across the country to catch up and we were in a slight crisis following the morning’s events! The property was immaculately clean and felt so homely. Beds were super comfy and overall the place had just been finished to a really high standard. We had a lovely walk at Credenhill Woods, only a mile from the property and enjoyed a drink at the local pub, which was super busy and looked a lovely place to eat. I would highly recommend a stay at Little Barn, would 100% go back!!!
The heart of Tillington is its pub, The Bell, a proper country inn with good beer, decent food and a (dog) friendly welcome; the village also has an excellent shop stocking local produce, a post office, and a garage. Next-door Burghill has a golf course, and the 12thC St Mary's Church. Hereford is only a 10 minute drive away; there's a cinema, theatre, independent shops, football and rugby, gyms, restaurants, museums, a historically significant cathedral, and all the main supermarkets, most of which deliver to the barn.
The 'Apple Belt' of Hereford is best known for its orchards - the Bulmer brothers planted their first cider orchard in Burghill - but it's a very ancient settlement: Kenchester, a Roman town, is close by and there are several Iron Age forts within a few miles. Hereford itself is steeped in history, from the Mappa Mundi in the cathedral's chained library, to the landmark black-and-white Old House in High Town, to the statue of Dan the bulldog who fell into the Wye and inspired one of Elgar's Enigma Variations.
Little Barn is right in middle of great walking country - easy-going footpaths for strolling, or, for more committed hikers, the Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills a short drive away - and the Wye is famous for fishing, canoeing and rowing. There are several golf courses - Burghill Valley; the Herefordshire Golf Course (Wormsley); Leominster; Brockington Hall; Hereford Municipal - within close range, amongst others in the county.
And with the Hay Festival (May/June), Ledbury Poetry Festival and The Three Choirs festival (July), Hereford's popular Indie Food Festival (August) and Herefordshire Art Week and Ross Cider Festival (September) there's plenty to plan a country break around!
Tillington is 5 miles/10 minutes from Hereford where there's a mainline railway station, bus station, and taxis. Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham are all roughly an hour away; there's a direct train line to London which will get you there/here in about three hours.
Little Barn has two parking spaces for cars, as well as a lockable storage area for bikes. A bus goes from outside the post office to Hereford and the surrounding areas several times a day.
