Our gite is an independent barn of our ex-farmhouse (1802), converted into a cottage. Our property is typical of picturesque Kochersberg, an area located to the North-West of Strasbourg. Come and share Liliane’s passion for her garden and curios. The small red brick, half timbered cottage is situated behind the main house and is independent. It has large windows overlooking the garden and orchard. The facade opens onto the yard paved with authentic old bricks. A wood built veranda with barbecue, behind the cottage, looks onto the garden where lots of herbs, plants, fruit trees and roses grow. A staircase, made of rustic wood, leads to the housing. The cottage has two double bedrooms and bathrooms, including a writing desk and a wardrobe. The linen is of good quality. There is also a living room with a Sat TV. The equipped kitchen comprises an electric cooker / oven, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a dishwasher, and all usual appliances. A washing machine is in the cellar, just under the kitchen. The furniture is both modern and antique, with respect to tradition and comfort. Just follow Liliane, who will show you her cottage and a few selected corners of her garden. But you will discover others, more or less secret, over your daily visits. Gardening and decorating are Liliane’s passions; come and share her world of colour, aromas, flavours, art works and curios.

Nous avons choisi de séjourner chez Liliane pour visiter Strasbourg et ses alentours, nous avons été très bien accueillis par nos hôtes dans un cadre charmant, le jardin très agréable regorge de découvertes de jour en jour:) Espace de vie fonctionnel et chaleureux, joliment décoré et literie très confortable :)

Un petit hâvre de paix avec un environnement authentique ,confortable et chaleureux.Les deux chambres aménagées en suites avec leur sanitaire sont un vrai plus.Nous le recommandons pour qui veut s'imprénier de l'ambiance alsacienne et de son hospitalité.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Je recommande à tous ceux qui voudraient avoir un Airbnb calme dans un vraie ville alsacienne non loin de Strasbourg.

The little lanes that weave their way through the beautiful countryside around us are ideal for walking and cycling and there are riding stables close by, where you can hire horses.
You could spend several days exploring Strasbourg, not only because it is a lovely city, but because it has so many good restaurants. Take time to see the fine, red stone Gothic cathedral and the Palais de la Musique, the opera house and the old universities, or stroll along the canal banks in the district known as La Petit France.
Haguenau is a large town on the edge of a forest to the north of us and has good shopping and more restaurants and cafes. Soufflenheim, 14 kms east of Haguenau, is a busy centre for Alsace pottery and worth a detour.
A bit further, you’ll enjoy the Route du vin (wine road), which leads you through so many picturesque villages and beautiful vineyards.
Further afield is Colmar (about 75 kms), with its lovely 16th and 17th century burghers houses in the old part of the town, and gentle climate. It lies near the vine covered foothills of the southern Vosges Mountains and is the centre for all the wine producing villages around it.

To fully enjoy your stay at Hansel & Gretel, we greatly recommend to have a car. However, there is a daily bus service in our village. The nearest train station is in Brumath (5 miles). The international airport of Strasbourg is about half an hour from Mittelhausen.
