We had a fantastic stay in the very spacious and clean Hayloft. Really helpful and friendly hosts who greeted us with delicious home made cakes. Peaceful and such a great location to explore the area. We visited lots of beaches a short drive away, castles, a gold mine, a dolphin spotting boat trip. So much to do. Our 4 year old loved seeing the chickens in the garden, the cats and saying hi to Rocket the dog everyday. Also being so close to tractors! We had a delicious vegetable box and fresh eggs to keep us fed for the week. Would certainly love to return.
We loved staying at The Hayloft over new year, what a beautiful, peaceful, happy place! Alicia and Nathan were such great hosts - very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Hayloft is nicely designed, cosy, clean and comfortable. Alicia is a great cook and having a cottage pie and crumble waiting for us after a very long journey in heavy rain was such a treat. It was lovely being surrounded by the farm and we enjoyed watching the chickens and the dog from warmth of the house. We did a beautiful walk on New Year’s Day, recommended by Nathan, to some waterfalls and down to a cove, it was very memorable. We can highly recommend staying here and hope to return sometime soon.
Amazing location! Lots to do and see around the area. Very close to Cwmtydu cove where you can see seals. New Quay also very close with amazing views, lovely eatery’s and of course the dolphins. Alicia greeted us on arrival and was very friendly and made us feel at home. The property was lovely- very spacious but had a very homely feel. Would definitely recommend and we would stay again.
I loved reading reviews in their guestbook from people who stayed there for the 4th or 5th time and I can see the reason why - great location, great place to stay. We loved our organic vegetable and fruit boxes, freshly baked Sourdough bread, and home cooked meals. Thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hayloft and hope to visit again. Our children loved seeing the chickens, walking around the farm, reading and playing on the piano. The perfect location for trips to beautiful beaches and costal walks. The food from Alicia’s menu was delicious and the home made bread was also a huge hit.
Troed y Rhiw is a 23 acre organic farm. Established in 2008, it is owned and run by Nathan Richards and Alicia Miller. The farm’s ethos is built around a belief in the necessity of farming sustainably in the 21st century. We focus on local food, serving our immediate community through a box scheme, local producer’s markets, and retail outlets such as restaurants and health-food stores. Staying local means our food is fresh, mostly picked and sold on the same day, and fresh food is the key to good cooking.
Troed y Rhiw is just over a mile from Cymtydu beach on Cardigan Bay’s Heritage Coast. This Special Area of Conservation supports a colony of some 130 Bottle Nose Dolphins, Porpoises, and Grey Seals that are frequently seen close to shore. There is easy access to the coastal path and other footpaths and the farm is a few miles from some of Ceredigion’s best sandy beaches including National Trust beach Penbryn, Tresaith and Llangrannog.
The farm supports a range of wildlife. Pipistrelle and Brown Long-eared bats roost in the specially designed bat loft in the roof of our stone diaries. Rabbits, badgers and foxes all live in and around the farm. There is a wide range of bird life living on the farm including Jays, Nuthatches, Blue Tits, Wagtails and other garden birds as well as birds of prey, from Barn Owls and Red Kites to Buzzards which hunt in the surrounding countryside. A Heron regularly visits our pond during the summer months. The farm hosts a colony of bees kept in ten hives. A wide variety of butterflies and moths flourish on the farm encouraged by the farm’s diverse habitat and because we don’t use any pesticides.
Ceredigion's remoteness is part of what makes it special. Travel by car will be the most convenient. The nearest train stations are Aberystwyth and Carmarthen and there is rural bus service. If you are planning to come to us on public transport, please contact us for the best route and understand this is not the fastest way to reach us! However, there is a local bus service, the Cardi Bach, that runs from New Quay to Aberporth and passes by the farm, so it works well for travel to local beaches. Taxis are also available locally.

Troed y Rhiw is a 23 acre organic farm. Established in 2008, it is owned and run by Nathan Richards and Alicia Miller. The farm’s ethos is built around a belief in the necessity of farming sustainably in the 21st century. We produce a wide range of vegetables, herbs, soft fruit and flowers sold through our box scheme, at producer’s markets and to restaurants and health food shops. We believe in locally grown food, sold to the local community, keeping food miles to a minimum and reducing the carbon footprint of the farm. The farm also has a small herd of Highland cattle, pigs, chickens and lovely farm dog named Bean. Troed y Rhiw offers quality accommodation on a working organic farm. Stay in our beautifully restored 18th century barns and explore the West Wales coastline and countryside. Troed y Rhiw is just over a mile from Cymtydu beach on Cardigan Bay’s Heritage Coast.
