We had a lovely short break at The Summer House. Clear instructions made our arrival very easy. The Summer House was very comfortable and had everything we needed and the veranda was the perfect place to view the sea. The site was peaceful and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The beach is covered with amazing pebbles of all shapes and sizes and we had a lovely walk into Watchet for coffee and cake. A happy little time! Thank you Robert and Julie Xx
Fantastic host, very informative and responsive. Beautiful place to stay and lovely sea views, very homely feel. Thank you.
We had a great time staying here at The Summer House! They gave us all the information we needed in order for us to have a nice time. We have made many more happy memories with the family and we would definitely come back here again!
The lodge enjoys a prime position in Warren Bay Holiday Village, a family run park which has a part time reception, small play area and launderette. The park has direct access to the pebbly beach, woodland walks and coast path.
The site is peaceful, surrounded by nature, with direct access to woodland walks and the beach. Please note: There is no on-site entertainment. The Summerhouse a TV and Wifi.
The peaceful park is on the edge of the ancient harbour town of Watchet where local amenities include a Coop supermarket, chemist, doctors, butchers, deli, many independent shops and a regular farmers market, as well as public houses, cafes, museums, the arts and cultural centre and the station for the West Somerset Steam Railway.
Just over a mile away is Blue Anchor with its sandy beach, beach huts, cafes and West Somerset Steam railway station. Carry on for a further 4 miles to reach medieval Dunster Village within Exmoor National Park. Dominated by Dunster Castle, the village is one of England's most beautiful with the iconic Yarn Market, charming shop fronts, working watermill and pack-horse bridge on the River Avill. The popular resort of Minehead is situated a further mile along the A39, with a larger choice of shops and leisure and of course the Butlins Holiday camp.
Exmoor National Park offers many outdoor activities and spectacular walks with Dunkery Beacon nearby, and Nutcombe Bottom where you can find the tallest tree in England.
Parking available for 2 vehicles directly in front of the Summer House, and other parking available less than a minutes walk away.
Watchet is less than a mile away, with a choice of walking routes:
1. Avoiding high tide - direct access to the beach, access the sandy beach over the pebbles (and maybe find some stunning fossils) to walk to West Beach in Watchet.
2. Out of the park and cross the road to walk down to the Mineral Line (old railway track) for a peaceful walk alongside the West Somerset Railway Line. (Turn left for Watchet or right for Washford.)
3. Follow the coastal path along the receding cliff edge and road (with care) into Watchet.
The Exmoor Coaster (open-top bus) runs from Blue Anchor to Lynmouth along the stunning coast road. A lovely day out with a hop on/hop off facilty.
