We spent last week at Les Volets Framboises and had an excellent time. Finding the place is super easy because it shows up on app-based maps, so we turned up pretty much when we had told Jean-Francois we would, to be given a very warm welcome (including a much-appreciated bottle of local wine, eggs from their hens and some pate) and a helpful run through of how everything worked. We soon slipped into a very slow pace of life, reading on the terrace (there is a selection of novels and guidebooks), jumping in the pool when it got hot or doing a bit of light barbecuing. When we did drag ourselves away from the peace and views of the barn we could walk to the local bar in ten minutes for a beer, visit the river beach at Brantome or the lake beach near Nontron and explore the towns. For more supplies we nipped to a market or one of the nearby supermarkets. The kitchen has everything. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking to slow right down in a beautiful spot.

Jean-Francois was an excellent host and super helpful. We will be starting here again. The gite was gorgeous with perfect surroundings and amenities. Thank you!
