Nestled between the Silver Sand beaches and Loch Morar, The Morar Hotel is an idyllic 3-star hotel boasting over 100 years of heritage of a traditional Highlands Hotel. Only 2 miles from Mallaig the Southern Gateway to the Isle of Skye and 45 minutes from Fort William it's your ideal destination for family and solo holidays. Built in 1902, originally as the Station hotel, it still retains much of the charm it had when it opened as well as its own railway station through which the Hogwarts Express passes on its journey traversing the Glenfinnan viaduct featured in the Harry Potter movies! The Morar Hotel features breathtaking views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the Inner Hebridean islands of Rum & Eigg, its panoramic views and comfortable accommodation make it the perfect coastal escape. The scenery remains as unspoiled as it was decades ago when it inspired celebrated international composer and Master of the Kings Music, Sir Arnold Bax on his many winters stays in the hotel. With plenty of local attractions steeped in history and endless walking and cycling tracks across the highland moors, it's the perfect Highland holiday destination for all!
We had a wonderful stay at the Morar Hotel. Friendly staff and decent accommodations. They have a restaurant in the hotel where you can grab dinner or breakfast. We thought breakfast was included as it said breakfast provided in the listing, so just note that it is extra charge. It is a breakfast buffet though so you do have options for food and not too expensive. Overall, a good experience.

Take the train to the small but perfectly formed Morar Station (right opposite the hotel) direct from Glasgow Queen Street or Fort William Station. A regular all-year-round service is provided by First ScotRail. During the summer months, from Monday to Friday, the Jacobite Steam Train runs between Fort William and Mallaig. One of the most visited attractions for our guests at Morar is the Isle of Skye. You can now access Skye by the Commercial Ferry Service operated from Mallaig Harbour, which is only 5 mins drive from our hotel. Please click here to visit Calmac (Caledonian MacBrayne) which operates the service. You can take your own vehicle on board the ferry if you wish to do so. We highly recommend you pre-purchase your travel online and also check the weather/sail updated before your departure.
