Newport Center · 蒙古包 · 2室3床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Luxury Yurt/Cabin/Hot Tub/15 min to Jay Peak
“Yurt So Good” is minutes from amazing hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, breweries & more in the NEK! On 40 private acres, you'll be within minutes to Jay Peak Resort, several nearby small towns for food, drink & shopping, or 90 min to Burlington or Montreal. A year-round yurt at its best with a hot shower, flushing toilet, kitchen & hot tub! Use our yurt as home base to explore the area & return to roast marshmallows, listen to our resident owls & watch for shooting stars in the black sky. Our new 24' yurt is a luxury glamping experience! All you need to bring is your personal belongings and stop at the grocery store on your way!! Upon entering the yurt you will be awestruck with the beauty of living in the round. The high ceiling, glass dome and beautiful woodwork surround you. Starting with the sleeping arrangements: The king sized platform bed with a beautiful live-edge, black cherry headboard, (from a local tree) sits under the loft. Lamps on both sides of the bed have USB ports and a regular outlet. The upstairs loft, with a ladder to ascend/descend (may not be suitable for children under age 4) has 2 twin mattresses for your kids! Please note the head space is tight for adults and the twin mattresses cannot be pushed together…(BRING YOUR OWN SLEEPING BAGS for the loft) There's a small lamp on a dimmer and an outlet. Linens are provided for the king bed, a cotton blanket & quilt that are all washed in unscented, clear detergent. Guests should note that because this is a yurt, the bedrooms allow for some visual privacy, but not full privacy. Although “Yurt So Good” is well insulated and has an excellent propane stove, you may still need an extra blanket while sleeping on cold nights. Due to hot air rising, the loft may get too warm. For this reason, we have a giant fan suspended from the dome. Next we move to the loo! “Yurt So Good” is equipped with a flushing toilet, sink & small corner shower with a rain showerhead. The hot water is on-demand and plentiful. Bath towels, hand towels & washcloths are provided for your stay so this is a true glamping experience! No outhouse for you! The kitchen area is perfect for preparing easy meals on the 20" gas range or in the oven. No need to schlep a cooler here- we have a fridge and freezer to store all your food & drinks! There's also a toaster oven for the kids' chicken nuggets and toast. A small microwave sits on top of the fridge! And for our coffee lovers- a drip coffee pot AND keurig. Organic dark roast pods and ground coffee available. Tea lovers will find a small selection of organic teas and a kettle. All the cookware and utensils you need to prepare a nice meal are provided. There's also a propane grill just outside the kitchen door and the fire pit also has a removable grill if you wish to cook over a wood fire (think BBQ chicken!) The dining table has 4 Drucker rattan chairs so you can dine inside during inclement weather. The living area has a full size couch and a barrel chair. After a cold day on the slopes you can stream your favorite shows or movies on the flat screen TV equipped with a Roku remote for your favorite apps. (Your account info will be needed to sign-in to Netflix, Vudu, etc)….Or stream Pandora and relax in front of the propane stove with the faux log fire. Please note that we are in a rural location with satellite internet and we cannot control the service provider. We do not have cable TV but local news is provided thru apps. And lastly, outside “Yurt So Good” is a small deck with a bromine hot tub that seats 4 comfortably under cover so you can relax and enjoy- even in the rain, with solar lighting above! Pool towels are provided in the basket. There’s a small, round dining table that seats 4 (in season). In the yard is a large custom-made fire pit with more outdoor seating, perfect for roasting marshmallows and watching the fireflies in the surrounding fields. Firewood, kindling, paper and s'more sticks are provided! The stars are amazing on a clear night and if you visit in August or September, you may get to see a sky full of shooting stars. Listen for the coyotes all night! "Yurt So Good" has its own private driveway but is about 600 feet from our house, thru the woods. Our goats come through the woods and their fencing (not electric) does abut the yurt yard. They do talk and are very friendly. Please do not feed them and please do not allow children to climb the fence!! If you would like a goat experience, please let us know. We are more than happy to meet you with grain & let you feed them. Please enjoy a few days of unique glamping on our precious land surrounded by apple trees and woods…watch for shooting stars, enjoy s’mores by the campfire & enjoy the Northeast Kingdom and all it has to offer. We are honored to have you as our guests!
Everything was well thought out and the small details really made the stay. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, we had cozy beds and a warm fire, fluffy towels for the hot tub, and a grill to put on top of the yurt shaped fire pit for cooking! Everything was perfect! The hosts were very responsive, helpful, and kind. They even let us visit their baby goats! Would stay here again!! Thanks for having us.
Spent a couple nights in “yurt so good” while I skied at Jaypeak. April and Charlie were so responsive and helpful before and during my stay. The yurt was extremely welcoming, cozy and comforting! So many details were thought through. You could tell they took a lot of pride in creating a wonderful space to host people at. Bed was comfy, space was warm and kitchen had all you needed and then some. Shower had nice water pressure and was plenty warm! The hot tub was an especially nice touch, as I sat in it and watched the snow continue to fall. Thank you and I’ll be back for sure!
The luxury yurt was everything we hoped it would be and more. It was like a cozy oasis in the woods. It was so nice to leave the hectic Jay Peak resort after a day of skiing and come back to our own hot tub. We would definitely stay here again.
"Yurt So Good" is located on a town maintained dirt road, nearly a mile off the main road. You will not be able to see the neighbors and across the road from the yurt is a hay field, that is worked in season. You'll have a partial view of the road depending on time of the year. Several old apple trees are on the front lawn and line the long driveway.
You will be about 5-8 minutes from 4 country stores for gas and provisions. A large grocery store is 10 miles away. You will be 13 miles from the base of Jay Peak Resort and 9 miles from Main Street, Newport. Several wonderful restaurants all within 10-40 minutes away, farmers markets, sugaring shacks, breweries, museums, hiking, skiing, kayaking, and VAST trails are all nearby in the Northeast Kingdom- our very special part of Vermont.
Cell phone reception is very spotty in most of the area including at the yurt. Wifi is provided while staying with us so you should be able to use wifi calling, messaging apps such as airbnb and FB messenger, maps, etc to plan your day excursions.

You will need a vehicle as there are no taxis in the area. Four-wheel drive, all wheel drive or studded tires are strongly recommended during the months of November- April. Please do not visit in the winter with summer tires. Our town does a great job maintaining our dirt road so the milk trucks and school bus can get through, but sometimes storms are quick falling. We cannot control the weather or other service providers. Inclement weather is NOT grounds for a refund or discount.
