Rustic cabin nestled in the beauty of the glen. The Wee Red Roost is on our working farm in the heart of Glenlivet Estate, Scottish Highlands. Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, we are located at the foot of the Cromdale hills. There is an array of things to do; hill walking, biking, fishing (salmon, sea/trout (May-Sept)), wildlife, coastal visits, whisky tasting, gin & whisky distilleries, star gazing, water sports, skiing, or just good old fashioned, simple peace & quiet :) The Wee Red Roost is a rustic, compact cabin and is situated in it’s own fenced off area on our farm. There are two bedrooms (Bed 1: Double bed and single bed. Bed 2: Single bed). Bed linen is provided. The cabin is in its own private area for guests. It is fully fenced off from the farm with driveway and parking onsite beside the cabin. The farm is busy and there are different things going on every day. There will be tractors, machinery, quads etc. operating back and forth around the farm. In the interest of health & safety and biosecurity, we do not offer tours and ask guests to please not access/walk around the farmyard/venture into livestock sheds. Please keep the cabin gate closed. We also have nosy dogs who will want to come say hello if the gate is open :) Water is fed naturally from the Cromdale hills. The kitchen should have everything you need. There is a mini dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob, Smeg fridge with a small freezer compartment. The bathroom has an electric towel rail and shower. There is a hairdryer. Towels are provided (One large, small & face cloth per guest). Please bring additional towels if you need. The living room area has patio doors (which open up to the decking area). There is a log burner; all kindling & firewood are provided for your stay. There is WiFi and TV. The bedrooms and living area have electric heating. Outside there is a covered wrap-around porch with decking area where you can sit out. There is also a firepit/BBQ area down below the cabin which looks out on to our fields. There is a boot room for all your jackets, wellies etc. We are next to the River Avon if you are a keen fisher (salmon, sea trout, trout (May-Sept); permits are available to purchase, please ask about this in advance). The area is perfect for walking and picnics (there is a picnic basket in cabin). We are also in the Cairngorm Dark Sky Park which means the night sky can be amazing - weather and time of year depending of course! If you are lucky you may be able to catch the northern lights (mid October-mid March).
