Was surprised to be able to book a room in this historic hotel thru Airb&b. The room had a view of the patio dining and had a great ambiance. Clean and cozy. The bed was acceptable for one night stay but would be hard on the body if longer. Restaurant was hit and miss. Loved the complimentary warm bread and butter and the truffled fries. Definitely worth the carbs! The salmon was a bit dry but the cioppino is worth ordering again. Wine was decent—- we went with the local whites. Heard the dessert was excellent but didn’t have room for any. A nice little surprise was the complimentary sherry in the room. ‘Twas great sipping it by the window and the comfy sofa chair while reviewing my giant tree photos! Would definitely stay here again —-longer (hopefully on a different mattress) —- if we’re not camping. Thanks John!

The Benbow Inn in general is a very nice place with beautiful grounds. There were some confusion initially about the listing and how many beds were in the room. The listing had said they were two beds, but when I confirmed with Jon, there was only one bed. There was Talk of charging me extra for two beds, after I had booked the room. When I pointed out the error, they accommodated me with two twin beds although the listing had stated there were two queen beds. There was also an issue with a noisy air conditioner fan which I did bring up to the staff and they said they were going to have it fixed. However, after two days stay, no one had addressed the issue. They eventually did compensate me some for the inconvenience, but it was a lot to go through when you’re paying that much for the room and food and massages (which was amazing). I was grateful they compensated me some but I had to ask to be compensated at least four or five times before it actually happened.

Our stay at the historic Benbow Inn was VERY relaxing and enjoyable. Great place to just get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Loved having no TV in the room to help disconnect and enjoy the atmosphere. Would highly recommend John’s room at the Benbow Inn.

A beautiful, peaceful place to relax and “get away from it all”. I loved the setting, historical building and rooms, the complimentary full breakfast, and the friendly, helpful staff. I spent some of my time at the river which was clear as crystal and a great place for walking, wading, and swimming. You can not be in a more picturesque setting. It is also quite convenient to have dinner on site and enjoy a fine meal in the lovely outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!

We had a great stay at Benbow Inn. It is absolutely beautiful. We did select this property for the hot tub and location and were willing to spend more on these factors. It was disappointing to have the hot tub across the highway and that it was not working. (But, the bathtub in our room was large and bath salts were provided!) The property was very comfortable and the food/amenities were very good. It would be nice to have less pricier food options and more vegetarian selection. Afternoon tea and scones were much appreciated. And, although the staff seemed overwhelmed at times with all the guests (runners from the event), they were all kind and accommodating. Overall, it was a nice stay after running a marathon through the redwoods.
