So my experience at this Bread and Breakfast was clouded by the fact that Michele was on vacation. Most of my correspondence and emails weren’t being answered and when they were they didn’t address my concerns. When we arrived our room was in the condition it was left in by previous guests. This was remedied immediately but still left a poor first impression. The house host who made our food and took care of things (Sam) was amazing. I would give Sam 6 stars. She was very knowledgeable about the island and has only been there a little while. The bathroom was large for the size of the house- so that was a plus. Some other guests complained about the height of their bed- our bed was actually fairly low to the ground. The most discouraging aspect of the experience was a sign on the stove that we couldn’t cook 😞- apparently this was mentioned in the disclosure. The only restaurant closes at 3 and you can’t cook. I would return only to see Sam.

A stay at Smith Island Inn was the perfect way for me to unplug and recharge! The house itself is quite cozy and clean. The bed was comfortable, the water hot, AC comfortable and the kitchen well stocked (you can use the appliances except the stove). The breakfast, cooked for you if you stay until 9am, was tasty: blueberry pancakes, sausage,strawberries and whipped cream and orange juice with coffee or tea. Michelle doesn’t live at the inn but has a local woman who comes in to cook. She is quite friendly and helpful too! If you aren’t staying till 9 am, continental breakfast items are available. The house is equipped with plenty of bikes, canoes and kayaks. There is a screened gazebo in the backyard surrounded by lovely mature plants and flowers. Michelle has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable! We’re already planning another stay there!
