Janet was a fantastic host. She set up our ferry transportation, round trip and picked us up when we arrived and made sure we were on time to return back to Crisfield. The home was perfect! In April, most things are not open on the weekends (Bakery, the 1 Restaurant) but Janet made sure there were a lot of options for things to do. We played games, rode bikes, had all of the crabbing gear if we wanted to crab off the dock and we would have loved to use the canoe and kayaks to explore Goat Island and make it to the beach, but we had a cold rainy, last day. Beautiful Sunsets.....the sky colors are unmatched I grew up on the Eastern Shore, on the Choptank River so I am very familiar with the "way of life" and Janet, her home, her friends and the island, allowed me to relax and reminisce about my childhood and all great things that are a part of a small community.

If you're looking to visit Smith Island, Janet's Levering Creek Cottage is a highly recommended place to stay. The house has two spacious bedrooms, a comfy living room and a large kitchen, with almost every home appliance and kitchenware you can think of. Everything is modern and in good working order, with many updates inside and outside. Everything was very clean and comfortable and as a bonus there are bikes and canoes/kayaks, and the house is just a couple doors down from the Smith Island Bakery. Janet, the host with the most, arranged our boat to and from Smith Island, met us at the dock, helped with our bags and took us to the house. She is very nice and it's clear she has put a lot of thought into her accommodations. Adding to the small town charm, we ran into her at the local store and she invited us to a town dance at the fire hall. Overall it was an overwhelming positive experience at the Cottage and we would recommend it to anyone.

Relaxing, winter respite at Levering Creek Cottage on Smith Island.

Our stay at Janet's cottage was lovely. Janet was responsive to all the questions I sent--This was our first time visiting Smith Island, and I had a lot of things I wanted to clarify about the ferry, what would and would not be open in the off season, and the amenities in the cottage, and Janet answered all my questions. The cottage was very clean with lots of extra touches to make a guest feel welcome. Things like oil, salt, pepper and some seasoning were available in the kitchen which was helpful since we were bringing food to cook. Also available were 4 boats - a tandem canoe, a tandem sit on top kayak, and two solo standard kayaks. paddles and life jackets, and we enjoyed paddling all over the island. There were also a couple of fishing poles (we brought our own bait/lures/hooks as instructed) and I was able to catch a couple of fish off the dock for dinner. Great trip!
