It’s was amazing, fantastic place! Beautiful scenery. Relaxing. Kids enjoyed! It was nice to get away from busy life. Better way to enjoy Eid, our coming end of the month of Ramadan. Thank you!
Absolutely stunning home away from home, with sea views from all windows. We cannot wait to book again!
It was so private and quiet. We enjoyed sounds of nature. Sea view from the garden and all room. A robin visited and looks like enjoyed a little stay as well. It was so warm and well equipped for cooking. Enjoyed nice hill walk to have a great view of barmouth bridge from the hill. Recommend to have relaxed homeaway.
Rola Farmhouse Cottage is a mile from the village of LLwyngwril. This is southern Snowdonia at its most beautiful, coast and mountains all in one setting. The scenery is stunning from whichever direction you approach us and Rola is situated on the coast road that runs close to the sea along the stretch from Arthog to Bryncrug. Walking is fabulous wherever you choose to start from but the Mawddach Estuary is particularly lovely. Park for free at the station and take the trail around the nature reserve. Extend this to go over the bridge into Barmouth and have a well deserved stop for refreshments, fish and chips or the magnificent sandy beach. Making the trip up to the Cregennen Lakes above Arthog will give you unparalleled views of Barmouth and the bay and links in with the Wales Coast path. Steam trains can be found at Fairbourne and Talyllyn near Tywyn or you can take the regular train along the Cambrian coast and out to the Llyn Peninsula, one of the top UK scenic train journeys.
Castles abound, with ruins such as Castel Y Bere, 20 minutes away in the Dysinni Valley, or the more intact monuments at Harlech and Criccieth, around 40 minutes north.
If you're feeling adventurous, 25 minutes drive will take you to Coed Y Brenin Forest Park for mountain bike, walking or running trails, an hour's drive will take you to the foothills of Mount Snowdon or Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog and a further 25 minutes will take you to Surf Snowdonia.
A car is the best way to get to the cottage which has dedicated parking for 3 cars. Please note that electric car charging in not possible at the house but there are charging facilities in nearby Fairbourne. The train is a good alternative option and the Cambrian Coast service runs up and down the coast at hourly intervals. There is a railway station in LLwyngwril village with free parking. This train will take you south to Aberystwyth for a day out with shops, cafe's and lots of other facilities or north along the stunning coast along the Llyn Peninsula, stopping regularly along the way. A good bus service runs along the coast road past Rola and taxi's can be booked in advance in Fairbourne and Tywyn. As the coast road is narrow with no pavements or grass verges, walking along it is strongly discouraged. A footpath to the coast path, goes directly uphill from behind the cottage. There is no access to beaches from the house, the nearest beach is a mile away in Llwyngwril.
