This Earthen home is nestled amidst huge mountains, atop a mountain within a dense deodar forest offering a panoramic view of the foothills of Pir Panjal ranges, With a beautiful landscape that changes with every passing season. The entire structure, excluding the kitchen and bathroom, is a true earthen building crafted from natural materials sourced locally. It is a fusion of traditional Himachali Kathkuni and Nordic architecture, that mirrors our influences & aspirations. This 700 sq ft cottage exudes a rustic vintage vibe with a deliberate minimalistic touch, preserving an old-school ambiance. The layout comprises a studio room, an attic, and an open balcony for basking in the morning sun and stargazing at night. Complete with a private bathroom and a compact kitchen featuring basic utilities, it's designed for a relaxed and self-sufficient stay. we have our courtyard around the property providing a perfect setting for outdoor dinners, yoga, meditation, or leisurely activities. Whether you choose to play games or chill by a bonfire, it's a space to create cherished moments with your near and dear ones. This cottage is built by a close-knit group of school-time friends who fell in love with the mountains and the Himalayan Odyssey. Constructing an earthen cottage in this remote location, without direct road access, posed significant challenges. everything single thing that you can see in the cottage including the stones and wood has been physically carried down to this spot. a lot of people including dear villagers, ourselves, and our friends who visited us, have worked very hard, labored harder, and selflessly contributed whatever they could to make it possible to bring this dream to life over two and a half years. as you explore the property you shall find a lot of imperfections in the cottage they are not flaws and they are left deliberately by us to symbolize the authenticity and the work we have put into it and reflect how hard we tried. Our main purpose is to give you all an unparalleled experience of staying at a place and a home like this. we hope you all embrace the cottage in the way it is meant to be and love it. Very beautiful place, like what you read in the books about a dreamy mountain cottage. Friendly and helpful caretakers. Kaveti was responsive for all guidance to reach the place or any issues. Overall, it was a great experience.
Our stay at Kaveti’s place was an absolute delight. Tucked away far from the city in the mountains, it offered us a peaceful escape. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with superb hospitality by Hemu bhai and Pooja didi. The place itself was clean and well maintained. Despite Kaveti not being physically present, he was accessible at all times via phone and ensured that all our requirements are met for a smooth stay. A special mention must be made for Pooja didi and Hemu bhai, the caretakers of the property. Their warmth and hospitality added an extra layer of charm to our stay, making us feel right at home from the very beginning. Both of them were extremely kind and generous. If you’re seeking a peaceful retreat, look no further. We cannot recommend this hidden gem enough and eagerly anticipate our next visit.
This was an incredible adventure! My first time getting in the Himalayas and it was absolutely worth it. The home is beautifully located on the mountainside overlooking gorgeous views of the mountain range and valley nearby. Be prepared for this trip, the drive up to the village is very challenging and slow with lots of switchbacks and potholes! Once you reach the parking area, you will be picked up by the caretaker and he will drive you in his truck the remaining 15 min toward the house. Once you arrive, you will unload luggage and carry it about a 15 min walk downhill to the home. You will pass a charming local village along the way and their local farm. Make sure to pack good walking/trekking shoes and I recommend you bring a backpack or duffel bag that is easy to carry, not a rolling suitcase. The caretaker and his wife have 2 kids and are a beautiful local family who cooked for us and toured us around 🫶🏽. 10/10 experience, highly recommend, be prepared for a great adventure
The stay will stay with me for a lifetime, being amidst the apple orchids and lush green mountains in the perfect cottage that offers everything you are looking for…starting from the well decorated and thoughtful interiors to the perfect bonfire setting…. Cheers to Vineet and pooja di(caretaker) for making our stay memorable. A must visit with family,friends or your dear one. Pro tip - adventure lovers must be here for one of its kind experience. The earthen home tucked away in a picturesque small village of Bahu is a splended blend of traditional Kathkunni style and modern architecture. Vineet the owner is helpful aswell as a great guy he checked up on us as we were enroute. Last but not the least hemraj bhai and pooja di the caretakers are amazing human being and simple pahadi people , infact all three of them went extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Looking forward to visiting this place again , definitely must visit place.

Our neighborhood embodies the essence of a quaint traditional Himachali village surrounded by a dense deodar forest, where the residents are primarily farmers and cattle grazers. The atmosphere exudes a vintage rural charm, enveloping us in the warmth of a close-knit community. Being rooted in the heart of India's mountainous region, this village is still unexplored and untouched by mainstream tourism. Their lives are intertwined with the natural rhythms of the land, with days stretching out in a leisurely and unhurried manner. The pace of life here is refreshingly slow, allowing us to appreciate the simple pleasures and savor the moments of tranquility that abound in this idyllic setting.
Although the distance is less (around 9-10km). It takes around 45min to 1hr from Jibhi main town to reach our property. It involves a 30min drive on 'Jibhi to Bahu Road' and then 15 minutes off-roading from a point called 'zero point' ( just 2km before reaching bahu), followed by a 15 to 20-minute trek through the village and forest. The trek down to the cottage introduces you to the traditional Himachali village ambiance, offering glimpses of local livelihoods and encounters with rare wild birds and flora.
