The cottage is really very pleasant, it is an old house completely renovated, fully equipped and very well decorated. Shelburne is a very interesting place with antique houses, waterfront museums, restaurants and all amenities nearby. Our stay was wonderful, there is a soul in this lovely house. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the living room. I definitely recommend this place
We really enjoyed our stay at Sapphire Cottage. It was a super cute & well decorated older cottage. It was a great location with a beautiful view! It had everything that we needed. The beds were super comfortable. It is only a 10/15 minute walk to the Sandy Point beach & lighthouse where we enjoyed some sunshine & looking for shells & sea glass. We also had a delicious creamed lobster dinner at the community centre! On a side note, I would be a little cautious of the stairs. They were quite narrow & steep & my Aunt had a few issues, mostly with going downstairs to the bathroom in the night. Other than that, we had an amazing & relaxing vacation! Thank you.
So this part of Nova Scotia isn't the first one people think of to visit... what a shame! Helen described it best in her wonderfully detailed and helpful info package: a hidden gem. We really enjoyed our time here. The house itself was set back from the main road, so it was handy to everything but still very quiet, with a nice view of the water. It did get a little warm (we were there in the middle of a heat wave), but it didn't take long with the open windows and multiple fans provided (thank you!!) to get nice and comfortable. I'd be hard-pressed to think of anything that wasn't provided: all the charm of an older home but renovated with modern amenities and charmingly decorated. Well-stocked kitchen, comfortable bed and nice shower. Washer-dryer combo was very convenient as well. It really felt like home away from home in no time at all. Very happy with our choice and grateful for the hospitality.

We enjoyed the great view of the bay and the location was convenient to multiple beaches. It was very clean and well decorated.

I moved to Shelburne in 2000 and I have spent the last 24 years working in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry first as a B&B owner and now as an owner/operator of Sandy Lane Vacation Rentals. I love my adopted home. I think Nova Scotia’s South Shore is an undiscovered gem and I look forward to sharing my local knowledge with you. When I am not helping my guests find the perfect home for their vacation, I'm off exploring new parts of the world.
