Whether you're a hiker, mountain biker or cross-country skier, the Rolling Huts, located in Washington's Methow Valley, are the perfect accommodation. Designed as a modern alternative to camping by Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle, the six huts are grouped as a herd, each with views of the mountains. Important Information About the Rolling Huts: 1. The double bed in the back room is furnished with a memory foam pad covered with a sheet and European coverlet. The coverlet is changed out and laundered after each visit. We also provide pillows and pillow cases. There is a single bed which can be arranged by adjusting the furniture. There are also three extra foam camp mats to use for extra padding or seat cushions. For use of these you will need to bring your own sleeping bag or blankets. 2. We provide each hut with towels and wash cloths. There are hot showers located in the big barn which is within walking distance to the huts. 3. The hut kitchens are minimally supplied with dishes, cups, and utensils. We also provide supplies for washing your dishes which should be done upon your departure. There is no sink in the hut but there are water spigots outside each hut. 4. There is a small fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, and an electric tea kettle in each hut. There is no stove top but you are welcome to bring one. We do provide a community barbecue with one gas grill and two wood/charcoal grills. If you would like to use these, you will need to bring your own charcoal and knives. 5. We provide firewood and matches for the indoor fireplace. We do not provide paper or firestarters, and you will need to chop your own kindling. 6. There is free WiFi on site, although it is inconsistent at the huts due to distance from the server. Connection is best at the restaurant.WiFi: WesolaPolana Pass: guestaccess CELL SERVICE MAY OR MAY NOT WORK DEPENDING ON YOUR CARRIER. IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, THERE IS A PHONE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE RESTAURANT NEAR THE FRONT ENTRANCE. We hope you will feel free to make yourself welcome at The Rolling Huts. Upon arrival, please read the checklist in your hut so you are familiar with instructions and information. If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond to this email or call the office.
This is a very interesting and unique accommodation. We loved the austere Scandinavian like architecture, fixtures and elegant wood stove. The bed was incredibly comfortable and warm. The nearby bathrooms and sauna were very clean and welcoming. It is close to Mazama and Winthrop and is right next to a delicious restaurant.
Everything was as advertised and as expected. Nice views of the mountains from the back porch of our “hut”, access to the river (too shallow for any activities but nice place to hang out), etc. We used the communal grills to make meals and roast marshmallows. The communal bathrooms were kept nice and clean unlike some other places we’ve stayed so we appreciated that. MOSQUITO WARNING: The only negative were the mosquitos. Had to put on a bunch of bug spray and light a handful of mosquito repellent coils while hanging out on the porch and at the grilling station. This is not unique to Rolling Huts but a problem in the area. We did an alpine hike and on exposed ridge at almost 7k ft. elevation with no water source around and we were still getting harassed by them. Never experienced anything like that on a high altitude hike. So, not a problem with the property per se, just be sure to bring the mosquito repellent.
