Enter through the front gate and get ready for your first glimpse of western living. Reminiscent of a Pony Express station hitching posts with wagon wheels line the front porch.. Circle the wagons folks as they say, it is about to get western, three Conestoga Covered Wagons with heating and air conditioning are located on the knoll next to the cabin. The covered wagons are nice and roomy each wagon is 180 sq. feet. The Wagons have NO BEDS we choose to convert them into something unique. One wagon is a private office for guests working from home. The second wagon has a game room set up for playing poker or board games, the third wagon is a comfortable lounge and media room. The Pony Express western theme cabin would make a very unique spot for planning your special Elopement or a micro size wedding. Here’s more….. CABIN SUMMARY: We take pride in providing our guests with an over the top experience. Step back in time, as you will be enveloped in a sense of true western cowboy luxury. The Great Room is surrounded with western history, Pony Express riders passing messages by mail service and covered wagon artwork is featured throughout. Vintage pine furniture has been repurposed and reupholstered in saddle blanket and designer western fabrics. Game table with chess board, western wagon wheel lantern chandelier and an ox bar pendants over the bar add to just the right ambiance. The great room has 16 feet of oversized sliding glass doors across the length of the room provides breathtaking mountain and expansive creek views that meander through the entire property. Way down yonder you can even see a red barn and horses grazing in a pasture making a picture perfect backdrop. If your plans are to just hang out for the weekend the Pony Express Cabin is your ticket to a western relaxation at this best. One of the fun features are bookcases chalk full of old western movie memorabilia featuring photos of some of the great western stars like John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Tom Nix and Gene Autry, a large library of television series DVD’s featuring old western TV shows; such as Rawhide, Gun smoke and Bonanza along with a full collection of original western Zane Gray books. In the great room you will find an old Cogwheel coffee table that spins making it perfect for board games. Some board games are vintage and western themed. OFFICE SET UP: For guests that are working from home, accommodations in the great room includes a vintage writing desk with office supplies and a comfortable cowhide office chair. THE GROUNDS: The Pony Express cabin overlooks 650 feet of Skeenah creek frontage that flows through the entire property. Skeenah creek flows into the Toccoa River. The property provides a wonderful setting with mountain and pasture views for you to enjoy your vacation in the North Georgia Mountains. During the day you can picnic at our creek-side setting, or play volleyball, toss the football or kick the soccer ball (four acres of flat area on the property.) In the evening enjoy time at the campfire pit and gaze at the stars. LOCATION: The cabin is located in the beautiful Suches area, which borders the edge of Blue Ridge. Very desirable location short distance to the tubing and kayak launch on the upper most starting point of the Toccoa River. Location is ideal for a single person or two couples that are seeking ultimate privacy for a nice relaxing weekend get-away. Excellent location for those planning a motorcycle-riding trip through the North Georgia Mountains. This cabin also fits the bill for guests searching for a cabin with no stairs inside the cabin as all the living space is on one level. Easy access to all paved roads -- no driving up and down twisty, winding, dusty gravel/dirt roads. THINGS TO DO: The Pony Express Cabin is centrally located just a short distance to Blairsville near the Chattahoochee National Forest. You will be within a few miles of swinging bridge over Toccoa River, swimming, canoeing, or tubing on the Toccoa, hiking the Appalachian Trail, Benton McKaye Trail, Duncan Ridge Trail, and/or exploring the Trout Hatchery. Easy ride to either Lake Notteley or Lake Blue Ridge. The calendar is always up to date, if dates are blocked the cabin is not available. After you book and well before your arrival date, you’ll receive an email from us explaining how to get to the cabin, where to park, and all sorts of good information about things to do in and around this wonderful town. 48 hours prior to arrival we will send your arrival confirmation with detailed directions and the keyless entry code for the entry door into the guest suite. When you arrive, there will be tourist brochures and welcome letter with more information, like Wi-Fi access code and restaurant recommendations. ****** House Rules****** Dear Prospective Guest, There aren’t really too many house rules. Basically, come in and make yourself at home. There’s no such thing as a check-in time that’s too late, so no worries there. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate later checkout times due to enhanced cleaning. Our only requests are please remove your shoes while inside the cabin, follow our hot tub rules requiring showering before use and please do not invite visitors; the space and all the amenities we provide are only for our registered guests. Just a couple of simple departure tasks; please do not strip the sheets off the beds we prefer to do this ourselves, just lay the bedding flat on the bed. Place towels in laundry baskets assigned to each bedroom, turn lights and ceiling fans off, insure hot tub water is clear and cover is latched, bag and toss your trash in the trash bins on the side of the house on your way out.
