South Zeal · 整套民居 · 3室3床1.5卫 · 可住6人 · Three bed house in Dartmoor National Park
Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay in the Devon village of South Zeal. Walk out of the house straight onto Dartmoor National Park. The center of the village is a 10 minute stroll away, there are two pubs that serve food and a local village store / Post Office / tea room.
We had a really lovely stay at this house on Dartmoor. It was perfect for the occasion of celebrating New Year, with a good spatial dining area, lovely secure garden for the dogs and a wonderful fire to warm us up after a wet and windy walk. Would definitely recommend this!
A group of 4, we were in Dartmoor for a guided walk with Dartmoor’s Daughter. We love South Zeal and Howard’s place was perfect for us. We could walk down the hill to the great village pubs and return to a quiet and warm home. Very generous logs were provided and we loved cosying down with a DVD and toasty fire at night. There were a couple of minor issues but Howard was quickly responsive and sorted them out in a friendly and helpful way. The kitchen is great and very well stocked with cooking implements and crockery. . You will need to bring your own oil for cooking and soap/shampoo etc. Tavistock, a 25/30 minute drive away is a lovely town with a great covered market and excellent gastro pub, The Cornish Arms.
My friends and I absolutely loved staying at Howard’s House on the very edge of Dartmoor. Howard couldn’t have been more helpful, accommodating and friendly and even helped one of our party with her car that had an issue. We each had a double bedroom and loved the open plan Living, well equipped Kitchen, Dining room.. so much more sociable!! The massive wood burner and large basket of logs was a highlight! We loved visiting Scorhill Stone Circle and the Tolmen Stone, also the Belstone River walk and stone circle as well as many invigorating Tor walks!! A great base and wonderful host 🙏
Situatued on the edge of Dartmoor National Park with plenty of tracks leading straight from the property. You can head up Cosdon Hill for spectacular views across Devon, then work your way over to Belston for a gourmet burger at The Tors then wind your way to Sticklepath then onto South Zeal to complete the loop back home.
The local village of South Zeal is a short walk where you will find the local store providing cafe, post office and shop.
The Oxenham Arms, a twelfth century four star hotel with restaurant, bar and beer garden is well worth a visit.
The Kings Arms is a little further up the hill with outdoor seating and garden to enjoy the surrounding countryside with your meal, or even have a takeaway!
Just one mile from the house is the village of Sticklepath which hosts two public houses and The Finch Foundry, run by The National Trust. A fascinating insight into edge tool making of the 19th Century.( booking required for guide )
