This beautiful Victorian Highland Lodge offers magnificent scenery and the opportunity to fully relax into the Highland pace of life. Perfect for large family gatherings and groups, the house is in the heart of the glen, 2 miles from Kinloch Rannoch at the foot of Schiehallion, with fantastic walking and cycling right from the door. Newly refurbished in the spirit of Scottish country living, tradition, authenticity and fireside comfort complement contemporary furnishings and light airy spaces.
Beautiful house in a stunning setting. We were a party of 15 adults, 2 babies and 3 dogs. The house was well equipped with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Our host was very friendly and helpful and sorted out a minor problem we had very quickly. It was lovely to wake up each morning to breathtaking views over Dunalister Water. We hope to visit again in the future and highly recommend the property.
e of a kind stay ! The house itself blows all expectations out of the water - beautifully decorated in an authentic & cottage country side feel, a lot of thought has been put into every element & modern appliances (and heating!) make welcoming big groups an enjoyable & smooth experience. Plentiful firewood available at no extra charge makes for lots of cosy fires ! The surroundings leave you speechless, everything you could hope for when escaping to the Scottish countryside with a large group & the views from the house when you wake up in the morning are astounding. Kate herself is lovely, friendly & communicative whilst helping us with plenty of recommendations, be it local activities such as distillery tours in Aberfeldy or hiking the nearest Munro ! Only downside is the distance to the nearest decent sized supermarket but obviously expected - make sure you stock up well before if you’re a big group.
Kate and Andrew were absolutely incredible hosts. A group of 14 of us spent a New Year’s to remember in the stunning Lassintullich House. Everything from start to finish was fantastic and beyond expectations. The house and setting is stunning, it’s so well equipped and perfect for a group getaway. The walking recommendations were 10/10. The transfers and use of the Land Rover’s made the whole trip totally stress free and perfect to be able to explore the spectacular local scenery. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful place to spend New Year’s Eve. Thanks so much Andrew and Kate, we hope to be back soon!
We booked Lassintulloch House to celebrate my 60th birthday with my qife, 5 grown up children, 5 grandchildren and 2 dogs. This flexible accommodation met all our family needs with a toddler bed, 2 cots and 2 high chairs. The adult beds were extremely comfortable with top notch bedding. Everything required in a kitchen and laundry room was provided. For such a large house we found it to be very warm and had plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Location is wonderful with access to walks to the forest, into Kinloch Rannoch and the Rannoch Hotel. Great area for cycling too. When we had any questions, Kate was very helpful. Definitely recommend this fantastic property for a family holiday. Thank you Kate for being g so friendly and helpful.
From the door of the house, guests can wander through the woods and up onto the hill, or across the fields and down to the river. Play in the extensive private garden or spot the flora or fauna. When organised in advance, we offer guided tours of the hill ground with red deer and other wildlife to identify and breathtaking views for photography opportunities. We are also able to organise river or loch fishing and stalking.
‘An island surrounded by heather-clad mountains’ – Rannoch stretches from the wild moor in the west, down the eleven miles of unspoilt loch to Kinloch Rannoch village and on to the slopes of Schiehallion, one of Scotland’s most iconic mountains, the 'hill of the fairies'.
We recommend not being in a hurry. The glen has so much to enjoy, whether it’s experiencing the windswept munro summits, gazing at the dark night sky, wandering through the ancient Caledonian forest, or listening to the diverse local wildlife. The peace and tranquillity of remote Rannoch is a welcome escape from urban life and the ultimate boost to health and wellbeing.
Rannoch is a naturalist’s paradise. We still get a thrill from watching the black grouse lekking, spying a pine marten, stumbling across a patch of wild orchids, or the sound of the whooper swans taking flight off the still Dunalastair Water.
For the adventurer the walks are plentiful, the quiet winding roads are popular with cyclists, and there are many opportunities for keen canoeists, climbers and swimmers. For more information visit the rannochandtummel website.
Wrap up well (good waterproofs are a must) and enjoy exploring the highlands, but on the days that the weather isn’t kind, our choice would be a drive around Loch Rannoch with a stop at Rannoch Station Tea Room for one of Jenny’s delicious cakes, a wander around the village taking in Ian Biggs’ amazing landscape photography at The Shed Gallery and a pause at the roaring Allt Mhor waterfall. Further afield visit a magnificent Castle, tour a distillery or take home some Scottish country style from the celebrated House of Bruar.
