New Iberia · 民居里的独立房间 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Gracious 2-room suite in a historic 1886 home
If you love old houses, historic towns, and Louisiana history, you will love your stay here! Enjoy your own private suite with a bedroom, living room, and bath in a 135-year-old house. The house has 11-foot high ceilings with fans, a mix of old and new furniture, and fireplaces (sorry, no fires allowed). The bathroom features a clawfoot tub. In addition you have shared use of the kitchen and the dining room and you are free to sip tea or wine on one of the porches! The house is a historic "Shotgun Style" with a front and back porch and large rooms. Like all old houses in the region, it is built off the ground out of cypress. In the summer it is comfortable with ceiling fans and central a/c. In very cold weather it can be a little drafty, so bring your robe and slippers if you get up at night! Cat lovers are especially welcome! There are 3 cats living in the house, so if you are highly allergic to cats it would not be appropriate.
Corrine's home is absolutely gorgeous - as a guest you will have a huge bedroom, a private bathroom and a spacious sitting room - so awesome to have all that space to spread out! I used the wifi for a zoom call and had privacy and a great connection. We really appreciated being able to use Corrine's kitchen to cook dinner as well. Corrine was incredibly friendly and gave us fabulous suggestions on what to do in the area - she is so knowledgeable about New Iberia and shared tons of interesting history with us. I can't recommend this place enough!!
Great place with a great host. Love the historical property in a great area of town. Peaceful and easy, lovely walk to downtown New Iberia.
Great place to stay at while in Louisiana. The room and private space were great, just like in the pictures. The host is very nice and caring. Would love to stay again if I have the chance.
Very friendly, engaging and helpful host. Walkable location amid lovely houses and magnificent oak trees, just a few blocks from downtown. Her house is comfortable with lots of historic character, and the rental space includes a delightful sitting room, a large bedroom and private (albeit small) bathroom. As cat people we enjoyed the four cats, though non cat-people should take their presence into consideration.
Main Street is a historic district that extends into the city center where restaurants, bars, gift shops and specialty shops are walkable from the house. Shadows on the Teche, a plantation home owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation is 3 blocks down the street and another two blocks further is the Bayou Tech Museum. The Bayou Teche is one of the great waterways of the Atchafalaya, perfect for kayaking and canoeing. Boat access to the Teche at City Park is less than a mile from the house. New Iberia is in the heart of cajun country and is filled with amazing restaurants that serve not only classic cajun food, but also ethnic foods, including that of the Mexicans and the Vietnamese who settled here.
Driving is super easy and parking is plentiful in this beautiful small town. The closest airport is in Lafayette, about 40 minutes away. A train station is located in New Iberia and it is a stop on Amtrak's Sunset Limited route between New Orleans and Los Angeles 3 times per week.
