This is a small cottage built by my grandfather. It is currently undergoing redecorating. The setting is peaceful with woods and fields full of deer and smaller wildlife. It’s not really secluded but the few other houses are only visible through the trees. There are beautiful walks and the beach isn’t far away. There’s a game preserve nearby. Shopping and restaurants are 15 minutes away. The Farnsworth museum and the Owls Head Transportation Museum are delightful places to spend some time. This is a small cottage with small rooms on a large property in a little town. There’s a bigger town near here with about everything you’d need on vacation. There is good light in the cottage that make it seem bigger. I lived here myself for several years and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The cottage was quiet and well-equipped, and an easy drive into Rockland. The bed was good, but we didn't find the couch and chairs comfortable at all. From the cottage description, I thought "beach access" meant a short walk to a beach. In fact, it's at least a mile or two walk or drive to a rocky beach, with part of the walk on a main road. Also, it's near a small airport and the plane noise taking off can be pretty loud, but they wait until after seven AM, and the noise is not constant. Caution - Our GPS took us to another street entirely, across the road and a few houses away from the one we wanted. All that said, Evelyn was a helpful and welcoming host, and we had a great getaway with access to fabulous restaurants, museums, lighthouses, and more.
We loved our stay at this clean and cozy cottage that had everything we needed. Enjoyed breakfast and bird watching right outside, short rides to the beach at Birch Pt and beautiful Owl's Head State Park and a great burger at the General store. Amazing meals and views in Rockland and the rest of the mid-coast region. Would definitely return!
Perfect cozy cottage in great location to explore both Owls Head and nearby Rockland, Rockport and Camden! Don’t be surprised to see a deer while sipping your morning coffee!

We are on a private road with 8 families in the summer and just us in the winter. There’s shore access and a pleasant walk to the sand beach. There are other beaches a quick drive away. There are deer and foxes and raccoons and SKUNKS! Be careful where you walk at night!
Parking is right by the door. It’s safe and we all walk around the neighborhood. Biking is also an option. Nothing is too far by car and you can get most anything you need in a 10 minute drive.

As you can see from my picture I’ve lived a long time. Most of that time was here in Owls Head. I have 2 daughters who grew up here and one still lives here on this 14 acre property. I have another rental here as well. My guests/ friends have been returning for years. One couple came for 30 years before age and health issues intervened. I’ve run a golf pro shop, a cleaning and maintenance company(my own), been a house painter and worked in a hardware store. Sounds a little flighty but all my endeavors lasted years. I’m quite opinionated but it’s ok because I’m always right! Sorry! I can’t seem to be serious for more than a few minutes at a time.
