THE VILLAGE
Medieval fortification that has remained inhabited to this day and that enjoys an excellent state of conservation. Its picturesque cobbled streets, whitewashed houses covered with Arabic tiles and colorful vegetation make it an attractive location for visitors.
In the town there is a restaurant with good local food (El Aljibe). It is recommended to book in advance.
THE Natural Park "Los Alcornocales"
Castellar Castle is located in the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, a forest mass with an area of ​​167,767 Ha whose state of conservation and natural and animal wealth makes it one of the best forests in the Iberian Peninsula.
In addition to the cork oak, locally known as chaparro, which represents its greatest source of wealth, its forests of gall oak, wild olive, undergrowth of fern, rockrose and palm hearts also stand out. Its animal species include deer, fallow deer, fox, wild boar, genet and birds such as vultures, kestrels or eagles that fly over the area.
WHAT TO SEE?
For hiking enthusiasts, there are numerous routes full of beauty both within the limits of La Almoraima (farm that surrounds the vicinity of the castle) and in other parts of the Natural Park. It is recommended to visit the Casa Convento located next to the Pueblo Nuevo de Castellar.
For excursions by car, we recommend the route of the white villages from Jimena de la Frontera to the city of Ronda, as well as the numerous routes that cross the Parque de Los Alcornocales and join towns such as Grazalema, Ubrique, Arcos de la Frontera, etc. ...
Lovers of the coast will also be able to enjoy a wide range of destinations, from the highly frequented towns of Malaga on the Costa del Sol to the quieter towns and beaches of the Costa de la Luz, where the city of Tarifa and the beach of Bolonia they are must-sees

No vehicles are allowed inside the castle. There is free parking at the castle. If you drive all the way up the road to the castle, parking spaces are available at the "Punto de información". If they are all occupied, you can continue down the street a little. Here you will find more parking spaces on the right-hand side.
