Castillar is an amazing place well worth the visit if you like that sort of thing. The hotel has maintaned most of the characteristics that make you feel that you're really staying in an 13C castle. Our house had 3 bedrooms and only 1 mirror in the whole house which is ok for guys but no so much for the women in our group. Enormous views, cobbled passageway streets with little low-ceilinged houses ooozing with potted plants spilling exuberently everywhere. Only trouble is that there's nowhere to buy anything to eat at home, you have to go to the only restaurant in town which is nothing special, venta-style food and restaurant prices. If you're going to stay overnight remember to bring a bag of grub and a bottle of something with you as the shops are a long way away down the windy roads. And there's nearly no phone signal in the whole village which is great if you don't want to be bothered, but not if you need to bother people when you're supposed to be on holiday. Two nights are enough

Very unique and tranquil. Nice area walks and birding. If you want to make your own food there are no groceries here. A bit musty at first but it’s a castle! With windows open all mustiness gone. Residents of the castle are very nice and good story tellers. The hotel manages 8 places there so shop around
