I stayed at Milans house for almost 3 weeks, and it felt like home. Milan is an amazing host and person and was very good at making sure i always felt welcome and comfortble. When i was sick she and her wonderful family made Me delicious and super healthy tea and soup with a lot of homegrown ingridients from her garden. Milan also tought me some nepali, and was very helpful with showing me around and giving recomendations on What to do in Pokhara. The house was super clean, and i was welcome to make my own food in the kitchen when i wanted to. The kitchen was also clean and tidy, and Milan always made sure there was tea, coffe, hot water and fruits/cokies for me to have as snacks. The bed was very comfortable , and my room was light with enough space for all my stuff and clothes. Milan is also a great cook and makes the best Dahl Bhat for dinner and pancakes in the morning! The area around Milans house also felt very safe and calm, but sentral. I recommend this place 10/10!

I had an amazing time staying with Milan. Milan really makes sure you become a part of her family. They are warm and generous - happy to chat with you as much or as little as you want. I only stayed a few nights but feel I got to know them really well and hung out with them a lot. For a tourist, it’s a great way to experience Nepal and understand it better than you otherwise would. Milan provides two meals a day; one of these is a delicious dinner that is better than any Nepali food you can find in Pokhara’s restaurants! Milan’s homestay is located in the “real” Pokhara (i.e. where locals actually live), so it is ideal if you want to experience a true flavour of a Nepali city. Having said that, transport links to the more touristy lakeside are good: Milan’s family will always be happy to book you a taxi, you can take a direct bus, or download the excellent Patau app (a sort of Nepali Uber that offers taxis and cheaper scooters) if you have a Nepali SIM card. Milan has a washing machine which guests are free to use. This is ideal if you have a longish stay in Pokhara, or if you are going to/returning from a trek. Reliably hot showers are another bonus. The house itself and the room you will be staying are really nice and comfortable. I would highly recommend Milan’s homestay - I will never forget my time with her and hope to be back soon. I stayed with Milan and her family for over a month and it was honestly the best experience. They welcomed me into their family with open arms and I couldn’t have asked for better people to stay with for my time in Pokhara. Milan made sure I was safe and comfortable at all times and her younger son, Besish was also very helpful and friendly. Milan’s older son and daughter were often busy with work but when they had the time they would also make a great effort for me to feel at home. As a lone female traveller I was so grateful to have a family looking out for me always and ensuring I was safe. They really went above and beyond to make my stay in Pokhara really special. Milan’s home has all the facilities you could need: comfortable bed, WiFi, shower, washing machine and cooking facilities. The food she cooks for dinner is some on the best dal bhatt I have tasted in Nepal! She can teach you how to cook amazing Nepali food and learn the Nepali language. Although, all her family have perfect English. Her home is very near to the local bus route to lakeside and it is so easy and cheap to get there. In her area there are lots of cafes and restaurants too and it’s near the local bus park that will take you to the start of the Annapurna trekking routes. You can see the mountains from the roof of Milan’s house! Such a nice spot for a tea or coffee. Milan is very easy going and if you like she will bring you along to her events too. She works as a social worker and has links with the local school, hospitals, monasteries and elderly care centres and is always happy to organise volunteering for you if you’d like. During my stay she brought me along to a wedding and to a village she was working with. I really felt like I got to appreciate Nepali life and integrate with the community. It was an unforgettable experience. I really couldn’t recommend staying with Milan’s family enough and I am so grateful for everything they have done for me. I am very sad to leave them but hope to return again soon!
