Great location, house is exactly as described and very cosy. Dorothy is a great host - she had the stove warming the sitting room when we arrived in the rain. There are lovely walks from the house - just go down to the River Swale and follow the path left or right to do a circuit of a couple of hours to Gunnerside and back - or similar in the opposite direction. The moors above Low Row are striking. And the 'CB Inn' at Langthwaite - on the road across the Moors is a great place for dinner.

Well equipped and homely property with views from the lounge, bedroom, terrace and garden that would be hard to beat anywhere. Swaledale is a joy, stunningly beautiful and peaceful, great for walking and cycling, with proper local pubs offering excellent service and food. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys the English countryside.

What a wonderful spot! The Byre is small but perfectly formed and is an ideal base for a couple looking to explore the Dales. We had 3 days here and it was exactly what we were after. The most amazing views, very clean and well appointed. We loved it. Sadly we didn’t get to meet Dorothy in person though not for want of trying on her part, we were just always out enjoying ourselves! Great comms though, thanks so much again.

This a delightfully quaint property finished to a very high standard. The place was immaculately clean, yet also homely. We loved the local artwork on display. It's the perfect romantic hideaway for two, with stunning views from the bedroom over Swaledale. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed. The bathroom is a very relaxing space after a cold day in the hills. The living room was very cosy with a lovely log burner. Thank you to Dorothy for lighting the fire before we arrived, this was a very kind gesture. We were also able to store our bikes securely. Excellent offroad parking. Dorothy gave us excellent directions to the property and was there to welcome us on arrival. I can thoroughly recommend Swallows Byre for anyone wanting to get away for a few days.
