Superb base for exploring Ross and Cromarty, as well as the local amenities around Portmahomack and Tarbart. Sunset Cottage lends itself equally to families like ours (playpark and football pitch 20 metres up hill, beach two minutes walk away) or couples looking to get away from it all and unwind. The cottage has everything you will need for a cosy stay regardless of the weather. As a host Jackie was great, responsive in the run up with instructions and guidance and quick to assits us with any queries on our arrival.

A great stay in a delightful cottage. Jackie and Jim were great communicators and provided good clear instructions on how to find the location (easy!). The cottage is quiet, cosy and warm, well equipped and has great views. We found it to be a good base for walks, both on the peninsula and also on the "mainland". WE really enjoyed our week there.

I loved this cottage. In fact I didn’t want to leave! I’d returned to Portmahomack in not such good circumstances, as I was last here with my husband a decade ago, when we had a wonderful week. After his death a little while back, I’d not felt able to return until now, and this cottage, and the villagers, gave me a very warm welcome. It allowed me the space to reconnect with what had been a very special place for us. Peaceful, extremely well equipped, warm and cosy, with that incredible view of the sea. It was wonderful. Thank you.

A quaint cottage in a a beautiful location, it really lives up to its name of Sunset Cottage. You could sit and look at the view for hours. Incredibly peaceful and tranquil. Lovely gift of local cheese, chutney and oatcakes waiting for us in the fridge when we arrived, together with a pint of milk, much appreciated. Lots to do in the area if you love nature, beaches and ancient history - the nearby Tarbat Discovery Centre is a must, and the Pictish Trail is worth following, but look out carefully for the signs! One word of warning - online maps beginning with a G (it won't let me type the word here for some reason!) has the location of the cottage wrong, putting it at the near end of the row as you come up the street, whereas it is in fact at the far end, this caused a bit of confusion when we arrived. 100% would recommend staying here.
