You may think you’re choosing Foster’s home, but the truth is that Foster choses you. And when you chose this place, you need to ask yourself, are you ready to handle the most immersive, hands on, personal Airbnb host ever? Are you ready to be treated like royalty the moment you arrive with Foster greeting you and generously offering his time to tell you his life story of how such a unique soul came to this earth, overcame fear and humanly challenges to become the overseer of the most beautiful, original, historic architectural estate in the world? Are you ready to come home to an immaculate Auger-endowed kitchen clean that Foster himself cleans while you are gone, even after insisting that you don’t want to trouble him? Are you ready me meet someone who finds joy out of live’s most non-transactional interactions, such as meeting his guests and their needs? Are you ready to live in a home that is actually a museum with historical art pieces that trigger your inner most questions about the meaning of life? Are you ready for Foster to show you a new way of living? If not, then reconsider, because when Foster choses you, you must be ready. You must know how to accept his soul, because he enters into your life like a quiet rabbit in the night, only to become a rising dragon from the East. And speaking of the East - this man has immense knowledge of the Orients. He has traveled all around the Asia as the modern Marco Polo, collecting the most enlightened art and stories to share with the few lucky people who get to stay in his home. Now, if that alone isn’t evidence that this is truly the most memorable Airbnb experience ever, then you may not be qualified to enter into this immaculate museum. Foster even left out specific art pieces from the East for our enjoyment. He even left out rare architectural books. He is a communicative host. He thinks about his guests’ needs before they even articulate them. He provides a world class always-on Auger stove. He provides champaign upon your arrival. His home is located conveniently near the freeway and a few miles away to the heart of Oakland. He provided fridge space and a garden. Foster provides beauty.

Foster made me feel at home from the moment I made the reservation. The house was more than just a house. The architecture is beautiful and the artwork and surrounding literally make it magical. I can't say enough good things. We had a spectacular time. Goes down in the history books.

A meeting with Foster is a treat in itself. His schedule was such on the day of our arrival that he was there to check us in. He volunteered to collect us from the Bart Station which was unanticipated but very much appreciated. The location is truly close to downtown Rockridge and the Bart. There is a real sense of neighborhood and yet a sense of seclusion. The property has a meandering drive, best way I can explain it, so you are above and set back from the street. The gardens surround the house. It is hard to describe, but out of every door and there are many, you step into the gardens. They are well maintained and were blooming on our visit. So Foster is great, the location is great, the gardens are great and the "house", well it is beyond expectation! It was my good fortune to be the "owner" for a few days. So, thank you to Mr. Maybeck and Foster.
