Neighbor house noise nightmare, NOT mentioned in listing. By 2AM I was calling the police. Everything about our stay was fine until we needed to go to sleep at midnight. The location was good for XPLOR Fuego, and the shower was good. But the neighboring hacienda was hosting an extremely loud Saturday night party. Ok we thought, this should quiet down because a hotel is nextdoor and people need to sleep. But the music was approximately 100 decibels and not decreasing. It felt like a subway car approaching us in our bedroom. By 12:41 we couldn’t stand it as efforts to sleep didn’t work so we contacted our host on Whatsapp where our message wasn’t read. Then I had to go knock on this stranger’s door myself at 1am in my underwear to complain. This was not effective. When I came back, my girlfriend was having a really bad headache and she started crying. Later she went out herself to talk to the owner next door and tried to make him understand how awful she felt from the noise, but obviously the owner next door is someone lacking sympathy and not a reasonable person, he couldn’t even promise her when to turn down the music a little bit at 1:30am. We were super desperate and even thought about leaving to a hotel, but unfortunately this place is isolated near expensive resorts and without a safe way to get a taxi. Airbnb support tried to be helpful but neither we or Airbnb could get our host to help. We were stranded to struggle with the noise until 3AM. I tried calling the police three different ways but none of them worked out. I wish our host would have called the police for a noise complaint when I asked her to but all she said about it the next day was there was nothing she could do. This experience was such a nightmare for us, and the next day of travel was ruined because we were super tired and not able to enjoy the rest of our planned vacation activities. Be careful if you book here, Saturdays may be especially risky.
