We are located just after the split in Santa Cruz, the nicest place in Ometepe Island because of it natural beauty and access to the best restaurants and many things to do (natural beauty / outdoorsy stuff!).
This is a growing tourist hub for the island and has the best beach on the island, hiking trails, small restaurants, yoga, motorbike rentals and kite-boarding school.
The hippy side of the island where the vibe is super chilled out! Its a great place to be if you like nature, relaxing and want to chill out and see something completely different. People here tend to be very eco conscious, and so you have lots of little mom and pop places where people have set up little eateries, are making stuff like chocolate and kombucha tea...doing yoga in the jungle. This is nowhere near city life! So if you only feel comfortable in cities you'll be bored here. But if a day at the beach, hiking or kicking back and seeing the birds, cloud formations and discovering new insects, birds, etc sounds cool - then you'll be happy.
Maderas Volcano begins from our back yard and we have guide friends that can you can hire to take you up to the lagoona or to see the vista from up above.......really magnificent! There are a million stars in the sky, funky cloud formations over the volcano and some super cool wildlife around our place and in the area. At different times of the year there is a vista of wild orchids on the property.
The UNESCO biosphere seeks to preserve part of the natural habitat and within the reserva you can see a mulitude of critters....from monkeys to guatusa's! We usually see the monkeys at our place daily:-)

Once you are here - you can rent a motorbike, scooter, bike or take the bus (limited schedule) or walk to most destinations. Ojo de agua is a 20 min bike ride away, the beach a 10 min walk. Ten restaurants within 5 - 15 minute walk. The nearest grocery shop where you can get snacks or a beer is a 5 minute walk away. Our place is quiet refuge in nature, yet close enough to all the good stuff, so you are not isolated. Once you have booked through air bnb we can provide information on our exact location.
