We are Lauri and Jeff Lebo, from York Haven (Harrisburg), PA, USA. Lauri spent more than twenty years as a journalist and published author (The Devil in Dover, New Press), then worked for the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and is currently a union organizer for the PA State Teachers Union (PSEA). Jeff spent more than twenty-five years with Lebo Exteriors, a Landscape Design/Build company he founded in 1984. Songwriting is another one of Jeff's passions, and he has released numerous albums of original music under the stage name Jefferson Pepper; most notably 2006's Christmas in Fallujah and 2008's American Evolution. He is also known for owning the world's largest collection of vintage beer cans (more than 115,000...not joking!), which is displayed at their Brewhouse Mountain Eco-Inn in Pennsylvania. In 2013, Jeff sold a portion of his collection to finance the PurUvita Project in Costa Rica. We took six years to design and build PurUvita, and now we would like to share it with you. It makes us very happy to see people enjoying the spaces that we created. We think PurUvita and Brewhouse Mountain are magical places, and we think you will too! Seek to do no harm to others, to yourself, to the planet or to the other creatures we share it with. 2. Strive for sustainability. Seek to leave the earth better than you found it. Do small things every day that make the world a better place. Be a repository of love and spread that love to others and to the world. 3. Be reliable, work hard and use your talents for good. Be the kind of person who can be counted on to do excellent work and to do the right thing. 4. Be intellectually honest. Respect the process of science and seek truth wherever it leads. Form your ideas and perception of reality from sources that have a history of being trustworthy. Do your best to be rational and to accept realities, even when they are harsh ones. 5. Treat others with respect, love and kindness. Take time for your friends and family and be a good neighbor. 6. Be loving, empathetic, caring, kind and compassionate. Be generous with compliments. Help a stranger in need. Understand that you and everyone else on the earth are products of genetic and environmental forces that they did not choose. Use this realization to help enable your empathy for others. 7. Follow your bliss. Take time to do the things you love and do them with passion, commitment and love. Seek to live in the moment but plan for the future. 8. Have a sense of humility. Understand that you and everyone else are specks of dust in the cosmos. At the same time, understand that you are unique. There is no one else like you. Listen more than you talk. Challenge yourself and learn from others. 9. Have a sense of gratitude. Take time every day to be mindful, grateful and thankful for your many blessings. 10. Be a force of positive change in your community and in your world. Fight injustice but do it with love rather than anger and hatred.
